Braves and Marlins Get 30

On the Field with JB
Check out

Josh Anderson got this one started off with a homer and the hits just kept on coming. He finished the night 2-6 with a stolen base and had another strong performance. But before the smoke had cleared, every visiting starter got a hit in this one as both the Fish and Bravos pounded out a combined 30 runs for the evening. Frenchy also homered and Infante, despite two errors in lieu of Chipper, had a good 4-6 outing himself. KJ chipped in 4 RBI’s and Gotay got the game winner in the ninth (a late inning comeback?).

I almost forgot. See Heap. See Heap run. See Heap get his 5th stolen base. It’s still weird to me when he does that but I love it!

Atlanta sent 8 different pitchers to the mound and added rare appearances by recalls Jeff Ridgway and Jorge Julio who hadn’t pitched a big league game since May 23.

Charlie Morton didn’t get a good start lasting only 3.1 IP before giving up 7 R’s (4 ER) and 3 BB’s.

Of course on the Marlins’ side, Sanchez didn’t keep the Fish in it very long with his only miserable start.

In short, a come from behind win evens the series for today’s game.

Title Watch

Chipper sat last night with twisted right knee and trails Pujols .361 to .358.But Chipper can make a move if he gets on a hot streak. On the right knee, there’s no doctor visit or MRI announced yet but I would hate for him to go on the DL in the middle of this title hunt. I think Chipper would hate it more though.

Game Ball

Last night’s game ball goes to… This is a tough one. I want to give it to Infante but 2 errors cancels two hits (or RBI’s) in my book. And I want to give it to Josh Anderson because he’s still doing so well and got his first homer of 08 with Atlanta. I’m also very tempted to go with KJ’s big night. But I’m going to go with Gotay for getting us a rare clutch hit to salvage the win in a back and forth battle. Chalk this one up as a moral victory.

Keep Choppin’!
