Looks like the only team whose playoff hopes the Braves can help spoil is a team that’s already teetering out of contention.

The Braves got the series win last night behind the arm of Charlie Morton and the bat of Brian McCann.

The 4-2 victory saw Morton go 6 innings, 4 hits, 3 K’s and notch his fourth major league win by besting Anibal Sanchez.

Highlights of the game. Along with McCann’s 3 run blast (22), I’d have to cite an excellent outfield assist and relay by Kelly Johnson to nab newly re-Marlined Paul Lo Duca at the plate. Josh Anderson had a decent night reaching base three times and tallying up another stolen base (3)- what are those? Candidate for next year’s open CF position?

Title Chase

The most exciting element of this abysmal Braves season to me has been Chipper’s batting title run. After a two hit night in Atlanta, the slugging third baseman jumps two points ahead of Pujols with .359.

If Chipper can bring it home it would be the one shining light in the midst of the failed 2008 campaign, however so faint it may be. It would make me happy at least.

Let’s go, Chipper!

Next up, Braves in DC against the Nats 7:35pm in Nationals Park, Campillo (7-6) vs Perez (5-10)
