Sorry, but the IFs are starting to look like mostly IF-NOT-FOR’s to me. Plus we’re having trouble in two areas we thought were not so bad: our CF bat is a black hole and Jurrjens not only laid an egg, but is having velocity issues coming off of a Spring that featured shoulder discomfort.

No lead off, no clean up, and major question marks at the #3 spot; just the three most important places in the entire line up.

It just doesn’t seem like enough fire power to keep our good pitching from wearing down. Add to that the lingering disappointment at finding out we really did cut payroll with Damon and Cameron sitting there for the taking – or even if we hadn’t gotten anything yet, the ability to make a midseason move – and I think I might be about done trying to cheer myself up over this team.

As for it being early, I’m just not seeing too much that’s out of character for this team, besides Jurrjens being bad yesterday. Also, Prado is great, but he won’t hit .500 for the year.

Would winning 4 of 6 against Rocks/Phils change the way I feel? I guess it might, but I get the strong feeling I’m not going to have to worry about that.

We should not have cut payroll right now, of all times. Bobby’s last year and Heyward’s beginning should have been supported by the bat we need to get back in solid contention. Glaus was a nice gamble, and might pay off yet, but so far his spring and his regular season look like a complete picture. One without homers.

Were I a clever lass I would figure out how to spell the sound my boys make when they’re playing the game “Gross, You Farted!”. Come on people! Snap out of it! The off season was too long for all hope to be loss. It would break my heart and I can’t handle the mere thought of it!

    Bubdoubter Says:

I haven’t lost all hope. Just much of it.

I’m watching the Mets/ Rockies tonight.

    Steve Says:

Leah – is Frenchy looking good tonight. I’m hating that he’s having success.

I like a 10pm start, btw. I’m ready for good things tomorrow night.

  6. 31
    Princess Leah Says:

ME TOO!!! In that I’m ready for good things not so much for the 10 pm start. I’ll be a total grouch to my younguns Thursday morning. I didn’t see Frenchy hit although I know he hasn’t gotten an RBI. I was watching and doing laundry then got totally distracted by LOST.

Speaking of LOST…I wish I had a spread sheet telling me whose good and whose bad. Will/Hammy I’m ready for Sun to find Jin and I’m so glad we know what all the whispering’s about.

GO BRAAAAAAAAAVES!!! Let’s kick some Friar boo-tey!

    Kathryn Says:

Have we decided on a nickname for Heyward? The ESPN fantasy focus guys have dubbed him “the Kraken”

  8. 33
    Princess Leah Says:

Kathryn, do you play fantasy baseball? Every year I wish I did but every year it overwhelms me. Tips?

  9. 34
    Steve Says:

Anybody having any issues downloading the show from iTunes?

  10. 35
    Kathryn Says:

Leah – This is my first year playing fantasy baseball. ESPN has free mock drafts available so you can practice before the real draft.

    Curt Says:

I swear I heard that Jo Jo was sent down. Anyone else hear anything?

  12. 37
    Bubdoubter Says:

I don’t see that anywhere, Curt.

  13. 38
    Steve Says:

Curt – you must have dreamed it. And by dreamed it, I mean hoped so hard for it that it entered your subconscious while you slept.

  14. 39
    Princess Leah Says:

What else do you hear Curt? Are there voices? Do you see bright lights? Have the aliens abducted you again?

  15. 40
    Princess Leah Says:

Steve, I don’t download from itunes although I did do my due diligence and write a raving review. :)

Heard on the radio that yesterday all starting pitchers were lefties. Also heard yesterday was the 8th time that Petite won, Rivera saved and Jeter homered all in the same game. Gag me.

  16. 41
    Bubdoubter Says:

    That’s what…

  17. 42
    Princess Leah Says:

    Lol. Raving review indeed.

  18. 43
    Steve Says:

    New blog is up.

  19. 44
    Bubdoubter Says:

“What the hell is a Waldis Joaquin?” Funny. Good bloggin’.

Nice to (#$&^%) see ($%&^%) Francoeur and Kelly doing so (#$%@@) well.

  20. 45
    Steve Says:

No kidding, Bub. I have no seller’s remorse on either of them but … it really is insulting what’s going on with them during our offensive struggles.

  21. 46
    Steve Says:

So, I realize how pathetic this is and how loudly it speaks to how terrible we’ve looked but, I’m very excited about the Rollins injury!

  22. 47
    Princess Leah Says:

Bub, If they win tonight will you change your name back? I don’t recognize you.

  23. 48
    Bubdoubter Says:

Steve, in my mind, we need Rollins and company to beat the crap out of everybody they play to increase our Wild Card chances. From 0.09% to a full percent.

Then if a couple players want to get injured right at the end, bully for them. 8)

Sorry, Leah, I’m pretty much bummed out on the Braves. I know it’s irrational, but then, so was my homerism. I feel like somebody pulled the curtain back and I’ve finally seen the Wizard is just a hot-air balloon pilot from Kansas.

MAYBE if Jair’s velocity returns AND Glaus hits a couple of convincing homers. But his next one of those in an ATL uniform will be his first one. His next hustle to 1B will be, too. Loaf II?

  24. 49
    Bubdoubter Says:

*Okay, I can’t actually say the hustle thing about Glaus. I only saw him loaf it out twice, but then I’ve only seen two of the games on t.v.

  25. 50
    Princess Leah Says:

Did you see how pissed he was when that ump’s strike zone was three feet wide? I think he wants to come back and, I’ll say again, I think he will. I believe! I have no basis for this belief but the only alternative is bursting into tears. That tends to frighten the children.
