Last night and tonight is too close to call, pulling-pitcher-wise, to me, Leah. I think Curtdoza feels differently about last night.

The in-game management doesn’t seem that terrible to me lately. Just playing terrible, until tonight. Don’t know that we played bad tonight, except Chipper should prob’ly be sitting. Wondering about that DP that could have been turned with better footwork. Would have gotten Lowe out of that mess.

But Lowe has pitched poorly 5 outings in a row. This is really, really bad news.

In regards to pulling the pitchers, to steal a line from Spinal Tap, there’s a fine line between clever and stupid. Bobby, in my humble opinion, always seems to wait just a bit too long to pull his starters. Hudson had clearly lost it last night and probably should have not come out for the 7th. I’m sure Bobby left it up to him, but how many pitchers will pull themselves. Tonight, I don’t know. I would not have let he who is without a name ($) face Molina. I know that’s easy to say now, but that clearly was the point when he had been in there too long. If Moylan comes in and gives up a hit there do I feel like he should have left the starter in? I doubt it. There really only seems to be one guy out there who is strong enought to go deep into a game and that’s Hanson. The rest of them have about 6 innings in them, and yet Bobby always pushes for that one more inning. You have a really good bullpen, last night not withstanding. Use it. Save these games.

“We’re going to talk to him,” Cox said. “He’s taking way too many pitches for strikes. [As a result] he’s getting one pitch to swing at right now.”

Wow. We’re not just in last place. We’re 2.5 games out of 4th place. After only 20 games played.

There aren’t any freaking words for how atomically putrid this feels. What the hell kind of ballteam is this? I feel like Vito Corleone, when he’s telling the funeral guy he’s got to fix up Sonny’s body…. “look at how they massacred my dream…”

If Bobby Cox rang my doorbell and poored a cup of lava over my head, I couldn’t be more burned. What Brad did to Jennifer? It’s nothing. J. Caesar had a friend in Brutus. The Ninth Circle of Hell is Judas, Satan, and Cox making both of them watch this team on TiVo.

I tried to record a Braves game on DVR and it voided the warranty. Goldman Sachs wrote an article condemning Derek Lowe. Scott Boras has a T-Shirt with Lowe’s picture on the front and “Don’t Mess With Me” written on the back.

Tony LaRussa’s speech before playing the Braves: “Okay, everybody, just, you know, whatever, pffffffftttt.”

Zig Ziglar on being a Braves fan: “I’d pretty much commit suicide.”

Ted Turner’s prayer: “Okay, if I start believing in You, will You make them change the name of that damn stadium to something else?”

Joe Thurston: “Sometimes God’s greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.”

Jason Heyward’s Calendar: “Days Until Yankee: 2,547″

Johnny Damon’s First Words Every Morning: “Thank ya JESUS!”

Chief Knockahoma: “First the trail of tears, now this…”

Sid Bream: “Tell you about what? Speak-a no English! Speak-a no English!”

William T. Sherman: “Damn. That’s uncalled for.”

Braves need to wake up. JUST WIN ! FREAKKKKKKKKKKIN WIN A GAME. HIT THE FREAKIN BALL! 0,1,2,3,4 RUNS ARE NOT GOING TO WIN MANY BALL GAMES. SCORE 20 TONIGHT

    Curt Says:

They just said this was the worst start ever for a Bobby Cox managed team. Is that possible? Those 80s teams were dreadful. Even they were better than this?

Speaking of leaving someone in a little too long. They should have forced retirement on Bobby three years ago.

Here’s a link to the latest entry of a super brilliant blogger. I’m not just saying that because he fathered my beautiful children. It’s a general look at baseball that I found encouraging.

I enjoyed the read from the guy who fathered your children. Has your husband read it? 8)

    Steve Says:

I know this lacks elegance or verbosity, but this really, really sucks. It’s still April! How could the team be this inept and uninspired? I’m just sick about all of this. And I’m getting tired of Leo on 680 acting like there’s nothing wrong here. Are you kidding?!?!?!

Leah – your hubby’s a damn fine writer.

    Bubbusted Says:

Bobby getting into Heyward about his patience makes my blood boil. He has patience with everything else. Can’t he have patience with… someone’s patience?

A patient hitter can always go back the other way a little at the time. But no, we’re gonna pressure the most patient rookie in a decade to snap out of it and start swinging early. And do it in the newspapers, too, Bobby. That won’t help the opposing pitchers any, or put any pressure on the 20 year old being asked to abandon his gameplan in month #1. I can’t believe this is happening.

Kelly just worked a full count, and then took a walk. I bet he’s got MLK’s “free at last” speech on his IPOD.

Thanks Steve, I taught him everything he knows. Haha Bub, those two actually get along quite well. However they do constantly pine for my affection. Exhausting really.

  16. 341
    Curtward Says:

How did he get through an article about baseball without mentioning ABT?

  17. 342
    Bubbusted Says:

Manager taking Lincecum out because he looks tired and is obviously about to lose it, even though there’s not much danger just yet, and he only has 106 pitches.

    Isn’t that neat-o?

KJ had a bad day. Dangit all. My righteous indignation needs fuel. Wait, Frenchy with another hit and two more RBI’s. That works.

Man… Jason Werth… ninth inning, 2 outs, down 3, bases loaded, full count…annnndddd…. oh my goodness… bases clearing double.

Tie ballgame. Should have left Lincecum in. Oh, Bobby… you suck…

  18. 343
    Mara Raincloud Says:

Curt, I wondered the same thing. Although it IS a very general perspective and he doesn’t even mention the Braves who play a pivotal role in the happiness of his home. He may mention them in the “about” tab…can’t remember. Anywho, thanks for reading and GO BRAVES! Stopping by the store to pick up candy on my way home. Thinking I maybe should have ordered my ABT shirt in a bigger size.

  19. 344
    Curtdoza Says:

Please order 10. That way you can lose and gain weight at your leisure and always look cool

KJ HR. Putting Arizona in the lead in extra innings.

8 Homers for Kelly. Leads National League all alone.

    Kathryn Says:

Didn’t take long for this game to suck.

  24. 349
    Mara Raincloud Says:

Bub, is that quote really real or one of your jokes? That’s…disturbing. Yep…city of sucktitude.

  25. 350
    Bubbusted Says:

Leah, he said that. He said it just like that, without any qualification, in “The Bobby Cox Report” on the radio. Said we were playing very good baseball.
