Melky drives in a run?
April 27th, 2010 at 8:36 pm
Bub, all those walks are followed closely by the 8 ks, 8 LOB per game figures. And the atrocious HIDP numbers they have. When they do get hits they are singles with no one on. When the bases are loaded the best they can do is let the pitcher walk a run in. Last night Simpson and Smoltz were actively rooting for the Braves to just get a sac fly out of a bases loaded situation. Is that where we are? Just hoping for a sac fly? What’s the opposite of jaded? Hopeless?
And you stole my playing for grand pa idea. It really is like no one seems to be listening. I envision Escobar getting ‘chewed out’ and having to continue to put his hand to his mouth to hide his smirk.

High hopes tonight after Glaus’s hustle on the basepaths. Can you tell I didn’t watch baseball while on the road this weekend?
April 27th, 2010 at 8:49 pm
Curt, the plate discipline graph showed more than earning walks. It showed the best percentage of not swinging specifically at pitches out of the zone. But I hear ya.
Re: grandpa, can we PLEASE get a no-nonsense manager? Doesn’t have to be Ozzie (don’t really care for that) or even Pinella (though I wouldn’t hate having Lou), but somebody who calls a spade a spade. My fantasy is Glavine, but I know that won’t happen.
Though he does have experience managing a major league team. Anyone remember this?
Great, now Jim Powell is spouting the 50 mil Bobby quote about Pujols, again, as if it’s a 100% considered point. Good grief, it WASN’T. It’s just some stuff he said like every day.
lol @ Esco hiding his smirk. I don’t doubt it at all.
Later that night:
“and deen, wheen he wuss e’screeming, he tell me he no gonna take dees playing without no theenking… I wuss put my face down een my hands, jew know? To hide my laughings. I love dees man, dees Bobby man…”

90% of these sinkers of Lowe’s are on the very, VERY bottom line of the strike zone on the gameday graphic. Haven’t seen that kind of pinpoint from him in a while.
April 27th, 2010 at 8:59 pm
Smoltz says Lowe must have solved a major flaw in his mechanics. I want to believe this so bad!
April 27th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
Nice aggression on the basepaths.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:07 pm
Stunning that Bobby is actually considering small ball!
April 27th, 2010 at 9:07 pm
2 more LOB’s thrown on the pile. McLouth was jipp’d, though. Called 3rd strike was outside.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:08 pm
Agreed, Danny, and that time it saved them a couple outs.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:09 pm
Sorry, i haven’t looked at it. Perhaps I should before I comment……nah.
How about Scoscia (sp?), Madden. I have learned to loathe the term ‘player’s coach.’ translation: no discipline and a cap on how far you can go with your level of success. Cox, Mark Richt, Jim Mora Jr., Bobby Cremins, et al. Atlanta has been pregnant with them. They all can bring in talent, they all have measures of success, they all fail to win the big one. I have honestly come to believe that the only reason the Braves won one WS is because Mike Hargrove is just an incredibly horrible manager. I mean, he lost a WS to Bobby Cox.

Terrible call on McOut.
Bub, it’s ‘jobbed’
April 27th, 2010 at 9:11 pm
That one did not sink
April 27th, 2010 at 9:12 pm
Voldelowe is showing his true colors.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:12 pm
Hung one little slider. Seems like he can’t get away with… dang, he just hung another one. Instantly, the sinker are flat.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:14 pm
“Bub, it’s ‘jobbed’”
That’s what she said.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:16 pm
jopped again.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:18 pm
gameday shows Lowe getting squeezed now. Is he?
April 27th, 2010 at 9:21 pm
That’s 3 out of 4 first pitch outs since the inning when we scored. Exactly what we did yesterday.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:23 pm
No, I’m wrong about that. I forgot an inning.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:36 pm
Heyward struggaluggalin’.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:49 pm
This feels familiar.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:51 pm
Hey howdy ho.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:52 pm
all of the close calls are not going our way . . . not that we deserve them.
April 27th, 2010 at 9:55 pm
Good grief. Bases loaded for Molina. Ummm…. Bobby? H’llo?
