Facing the minimum through 7. One hit. No walks.

Let me just repeat that. Jamie Moyer. 2010. 1 hit. No walks. 7 innings. In CBP, no less.

    Bubdylan Says:

Freaking brilliant, Bobby. An unwinnable game and you bring in Kimbrel to make his MLB debut in CBP against the PHILLIES. Because, confidence doesn’t matter to a rookie. I wish Bobby would retire right now. Tonight. Don’t wait another day. Please call a press conference and say the words.

    KIMBREL!!!!

    Good job. Whew.

One hour till my first Rays broadcast. Getting excited.

    Bubdylan Says:

Moyer hasn’t seen one pitch in the 7th inning all year before today. Now he’s in the 8th.

At least Strasberg also 1 hit us in the Gwinett game.

    Bubdylan Says:

2 hit shut out complete game for Jamie freakin’ Moyer. I’m literally laughing hysterically. I’m laughing all over myself.

Scumdylan, got an extra spot in your ’74 tan van headed to Tampa?

    Curthlic Says:

Everyone even remotely affiliated with the Braves should either resign or be fired immediately. Including the players. Have they no pride? Seriously? Have they no pride? As men? As professional baseball players? You just got a 2 hitter thrown against you by my 8th grade science teacher. He was THROWING 70 MILES PER HOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I honestly read quotes from Bobby or any other Brave praising Moyers and talking about what a quality game we played I might never watch a Braves game again.

  8. 358
    Curthlic Says:

Seriously. At what point does someone get fired? When does TP go? Even as a scapegoat? There must be a shake up. Coming out of ST, the two teams I read so much about – so much about how sharp they were and good they looked – the two teams were the Braves and the Rays. Um, one of these things just doesn’t belong. I’m so disgusted right now. 1-8?

    Bubdylan Says:

Curt, I don’t know what it’ll take. But with their mentality, I can’t see them letting anybody go based on a game with McCann, Heyward, and Esco all out hurt. It shouldn’t matter, but it looks bad in the papers.

Maybe at the end of the road trip, they’ll do something. But I doubt it.

The Braves just can’t get up once they’re down. They showed this at the end of last season. Those last 6 games mattered to me, and I was disgusted with them for mailing them in. They just don’t seem to have any mental strength or something. Hell I don’t know. I hate to keep coming back to this, but I firmly believe the playing for grandpa mentality is killing them. Baseball at the top level is hard, soul-busting work mentally and physically. It’s a grind. They just get tired and, that’s it. Jim Powell said their shoulders were slouched. Diaz made a late dive, so that’s good on him. But for the most part they literally have quit.

    Bubdylan Says:

    Climb on in, Mara.

Paper bag over my head Says:

It’s always nice when your team quits 29 games into the season.

  12. 362
    Mara Raincloud Says:

I always feel like they don’t try hard enough or they don’t want it bad enough but then I read quotes from the players and they seem as discouraged as the rest of us. David Ross sounded like he needed to be on suicide watch after last night’s game. I didn’t get to watch tonight so I shouldn’t even comment. Of course that’s never stopped me before. Just wondering what the hell’s gone wrong. I’m with Curtacular or whatever his name is at present. I want a scapegoat.

  13. 363
    Bubdylan Says:

This will blow your mind. Before today, Jamie Moyer hadn’t pitched 9 innings against the Braves since my birthday. My 15th birthday. Oberkfell drove Dale Murphy in on a double in the 10th to with the game. Bruce Sutter with the save.

  14. 364
    Bubdylan Says:

    *to win the game.

  15. 365
    Mara Raincloud Says:

That is so sad. I had no idea Moyer had been playing THAT long. Wow. He IS old. Watching other teams for me is counter effective. I get jealous and more angry that my team can’t perform.

  16. 366
    Mara Raincloud Says:

How’d Kimbrel look? I know he lost and the Phillies crushed him but any highlights? Silver linings?

  17. 367
    Curthlic Says:

The quitter mentality is nothing new. I distinctly remember the playoff series against the Cubs and once we were down 1 run we quit. The only guys with any energy were Marcus Giles and DeRosa. And I still love DeRosa because of that series. He would get on base and look into the dugout and beg them to get fired up. I hate Bobby Cox so much. Bub, I don’t know if you listened to us last season, but I made a big point about the grandfather thing. That quote came out over and over and I just couldn’t get beyond it. My grandfathers are dead, and I was only close to one of them, but I will say I loved him and loved being with him, but in no way was their any discipline associated with being with him. Nor is there with the clown that manages this team.

  18. 368
    Bubdylan Says:

Kimbrel sounded like he looked good. One inning, one hit, no runs, no walks, two strike outs. I think he threw a wild pitch, but I can’t remember. But sounded like his stuff on the two K’s was really strong.

  19. 369
    Tampa Bub Says:

lol, the Rays are being no-hit through the 4th inning. I’m not giving up, though. I’m LOYAL.

  20. 370
    Mara Raincloud Says:

    Lol. Whew…sleepytime.

  21. 371
    Tampa Bub Says:

    Night.

  22. 372
    Tampa Bub Says:

Curt, I’ve been around since just before the Glavine interview. I was a slow convert to the theory of the Grandpa Badness. I forgot you were an original advocate. “I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now.” Or… reverse that.

  23. 373
    Steve Says:

I missed the entire game (the book signing thing was pretty cool). And I have NEVER, NEVER been so pissed looking at a box score. NEVER. Forget the obvious and insane fact that we were 2 hit by Moyer. But ZERO walks. And 7 runs given up by Lowe?!?!?! The 5 a game was ridiculous enough. But 7!!!! Utterly pathetic. I can’t think of any other way to describe it. Go Braves!

  24. 374
    Tampa Bub Says:

lol, the whole team is convinced – genuinely convinced – that Jamie Moyer threw some kind of brilliant, once-in-a-lifetime pitching performance tonight! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I’ve never seen anything so clownish in my whole life. Is this One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest? Or, maybe it was twice in a lifetime. Both times coming in his first two outings against the Atlanta Braves. Have they completely lost their minds?

He didn’t carve anything up. He’s terrible. He was terrible before he faced Atlanta the first time, terrible between that time and this one, and he’ll go right back to being terrible in his very next performance. They’ve flown the coop, I swear. I can’t believe those comments. Best game ever pitched by a blah blah blah. The Braves have been shut out more times than ANY TEAM IN BASEBALL. It’s not them! It’s YOU, Atlanta! YOU and YOU ONLY! Am I TAKING CRAZY PILLS?

This team has jumped the shark, no kidding. You guys are certifiable if you ride this out. I love you all, but you need perscription meds if you keep going.

I swear I will not listen to one more broadcast watch one more game on television until Bob Cox is gone from here. Not one. I’ll look in on a box score once in a while and check in with you guys, but no more games. None. No, not one. I promise.

I honestly thought I was beyond getting enraged about it any more. (And I did enjoy Tampa’s game. Did you guys know that Soriano has been doing very well? I thought he would punk out down there.) But I am mad as hell to read the postgame comments. – “He’s the same pitcher night-in, night-out. He’s going to sink and cut the ball, change speeds, frustrate you a little as a hitter, and you’ve got to be patient and make him come to you.” BLAH BLAH M*&^%f$#^ BLAH. If he’s the same pitcher night in and night out, then HIT THE DAMN BALL like HOUSTON – HOOOOUUUUUSSSTOOONNNNN!!!!!! did, scoring the same 5 runs off him as everybody else besides ATL who got SHUT DOWN by him TWICE!

I honestly, absolutely, CAN NOT believe they would open their mouths to say ANYTHING besides “we’re just playing piss poor baseball.” Even if they think there’s a CHANCE it was a good performance, SHUT THE HELL UP. Nobody wants to hear it. Poor pitcher after poor pitcher after poor pitcher CAN NOT be having the same good performance against ONLY ATLANTA! SHUT UPPPPPPP!!!!!

Done. Finished. Caput. Adios. No more. Zippo. Nada. Cero. Ziltch. Nothing. Fried. Burnt. Blown. Baked. Ticket punched. Ship sailed. Game over. Lights out. Carnival closed. Out of business. Out to lunch. Wrecked. Case closed, door closed, coffin closed, and need their mouths closed. This team is the stupidest team in all the stupid history of all the stupid world. Dumber than a glue-eating monkey. I could smoke ten pounds of crack and perform brain surgery in the dark better than these dunkheads can play baseball.

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

    MAKE
    IT
    STOP!!!!!!!!! MAAAAAAKE IIIIIIITTTT STOOOOOOPPPPPP!!!!

    go braves.
