Well I have been away from civilization for a few days but it’s good to see the boys get a series win at the twins, driving to Atlanta in a few hours. Hopefully the weather permits some good baseball! Go Braves!

Good job taking the reigns, Curt. Awesome to hear some Ballpark Frank again. Good show all the way around.
Fair to the coolness of the fish tank.
Thumbs up to whoever said the 2nd game of the Twins series was the most important of the year. It’s hard to find a game that marks the transition from the April awfulness to the May goodness, or from there to the late May greatness… but the transition to the Okay, let’s just admit the sky is the limit greatness… was definitely the 2nd game of the Twins series.
Go Braves!

Ball Park Frank! You promised to stop in on the message board and I’m holding you to it. Nice show…good job Curtis. I too am relieved when Chipper is not in the lineup. I like seeing him talking to the younger players. I love that he gave Conrad a scouting report right before he hit the Grand Slam to beat the Reds. He can still help this team and will still be the face of the Braves but maybe as a pinch hitter. I know…won’t happen.
My fear of Prado and the like getting hurt absolutely trumps any joy of seeing Braves players in the All Star game. I realize this makes me a bah humbug and I’m ok with that.
Great road trip! Glad for the day off. Excited about this homestand. Go Braves.

Mara, the players aren’t going to break in the Allstar game. They’ll be fine.

Dudes, I’m totally in line at Starbucks in Destin behind Kevin Bacon. Starbucks guy on intercom confirmed it. Of course I have no make up on.

Ask him if he was in a movie with a guy who was in a movie with a guy who was in a movie with a guy who….

Jurrjens roughed up a bit in rehab.
But his velocity topped out at 96 mph in last inning pitched.
June 14th, 2010 at 9:19 pm
I guess getting knocked around during you first rehab start is not totally unacceptable. Does anybody know if they were in Durham? If so I’m very sad.
Watching my kids night swim is boring.
June 14th, 2010 at 10:03 pm
Nah, they were in Georgia.
June 14th, 2010 at 10:15 pm
Thanks for the compliments. It was weird being in the chair.

Braves looked great against the Twins. Can’t wait to see how they do against another of baseball’s top teams. ESPN power rankings had the Braves at 5 today by public vote

Got back from Vegas about an hour ago. Two big sports-related highlights:
1. Watching the US/England World Cup match (yes Curt, I watched every moment of the game) in a packed sports book. Now there’s some cool fan energy. And those Brits can chant so much better than us.
2. By chance walking past the sports book in our hotel on Saturday and catching the last two innings of the Braves game. Damn that squeeze was a thing of beauty.
Curt – congrats on the show. I thought it would be really weird listening with no idea what it was going to be, but you guys didn’t miss a beat.

Girl Question!! So, Jurrjens rehab start made me wonder: when an MLB player goes back to the minors for rehab, do his stats in that game count toward whatever his minor league stats were? I totally get that none of it counts in his MLB stats, but I figure whatever he does or doesn’t do has to record SOMEwhere, right?
June 15th, 2010 at 11:02 am
Mara Wanna: I just got it!
Is it bad to be happy about Nate’s headaches?
June 15th, 2010 at 11:30 am
Anne, those stats should count toward his minor league stats.
Danny, I think it’s a fine line. Obviusly, we are all happy he is out of the lineup – same with Chipper – but i guess we can’t revel in him being hurt. I know where you are coming from though.
June 15th, 2010 at 11:49 am
Thanks, young Curtis. I waste more grey cells thinking about crap like that. I’ll be at The Ted tonight schweating my (base)balls off. …but think how those poor guys feel down there playin’. Go Braves, and get KK some run support!!
June 15th, 2010 at 12:04 pm
KK get’s first win tonight…I’m totally calling!

Breaking news…Chipper Jones retiring today. (??????!!!!!!!!!!)
June 15th, 2010 at 12:05 pm
Anne – looks like he will announce that he’s retiring at the end of the season: http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-braves-blog/2010/06/15/jones-to-announce-hes-likely-leaning-to-retirement-after-2010/
Wow.
June 15th, 2010 at 12:06 pm
DOB’s recent tweet.
Chipper retiring? I haven’t confirmed this, but heard from 2 people that Larry Wayne Jones is set to announce he’s retiring at end of season
June 15th, 2010 at 12:22 pm
And another post from DOB’s blog said that for the rest of this year, he’ll take on a reduced role and that Infante would become the regular 3rd basemen. Double wow.
June 15th, 2010 at 12:28 pm
I didn’t see that Steve! Are you pulling a Bub? I gotta check that out for myself.
June 15th, 2010 at 12:39 pm
Chipper Jones: Braves batting coach next season??? (that’s conjecture)
June 15th, 2010 at 1:39 pm
Don’t blow a gasket Bub…
RT @mlbbowman: After talking w/ Braves mgt. Chipper does not plan to address the media. Believes it’s premature 2 talk potential retirement.
