    Kirk from Hong Kong Says:

Great show Curt. Looking forward to seeing your TB series predictions come true! Just wrapped up game 1 here in Hong Kong. Now 0-9 for KK.

I think the Chipper Jones news is good. Great to see him taking one for the team yet again. You just don’t find baseball players like that anymore. I would hate to see him become the Cal Ripkin Jr. of the Braves. Although, with a homer and a double in today’s game I do wonder..

    Curt Says:

Atlanta has a knack for discarding its former sports heroes and it seems Chipper will fall right in that category. He has been a HOFer for us and we should all remember that. I know he has been awful the past couple of years, and I know I have led the charge for him to be replaced with full throated furry, but that should not overshadow his vast contributions to this franchise.

Look at Murphy’s last couple of seasons. Wonder how we might feel had those been in a Braves uniform. How this town embraces Julio Franco and dumps on Tom Glavine is beyond me.

I’m certainly more guilty than anyone, again, but let’s remember the good too. I’ll try and take my own advice when we are finally rid of Bobby.

Losing is not as much fun as winning.

    Bub Says:

Nate, the key phrase in your post is “from you of all people.” Taking me seriously is bad for your health. Believe me there is no waffler more waffly than me. Brett Favre was like “damn, Bub, make up your mind.” So, please, just shove aside any fit of passion from me as likely to change in five minutes to the opposite opinion.

This morning’s answer to recent Braves failings:

The Braves escape my wrath (and I’m sure they’re quite relieved) by building up breathing room with my patience. No matter how lame they play on a given day, it’s balanced against what they’ve been showing me recently. There’s not a team in the league whose fans don’t believe they lack the killer instinct to win win win. Realistically, all teams, Yankees, Rays, everybody, puts in poor days at the office. It’s June 16, and the Braves have not lost a series since the 9th of MAY.

They might lose this one, and they might fall out of 1st to the surging Mets. But they are a long, long way from using up the good feelings they’ve built up for me the last month. Just like I was the slowest to come around to loving them again when they turned it on in early May, I will probably be the slowest to get upset if they start to get shakey.

So, that’s the sort of visceral motivation behind anything I say to defend or critique the team. Once they’re on my good side, I can ignore whatever the particulars of this or that loss may be. I’m sure that’s not good for analysis, but it’s good for my sanity, such as remains.

I swear by all that is holy if I had money laying around I’d pay Bubdylan to write a Blog.

Brett Favre was like “damn, Bub, make up your mind.”
    Very funny.

    Mara Wanna Says:

    Tonight’s lineup: Prado – 4 Heyward – 9 Chipper- 5 McCann- 2 Glaus – 3 Hinske – 7 Escobar- 6 Cabrera – 8 Hanson – 1

    Bub Says:

That’s a winning line up. Tongiht, the Rays will wish they had joined the circus and cleaned elephant caca for a living. We will crush them.

    Bub Says:

On a note I wish I could avoid, if Chipper retires, I’ll be eating crow for weeks. Good grief will I have misjudged a character. First time I’ve ever done that, too.

    Steve Says:

As unfortunate as the outcome was last night, coupled with the errors and the woeful hitting with RISP, the Braves still remained true to their new
AL-like playing personality of being very patient and taking a lot of pitches. They made one of the best pitchers in the AL work very hard last night. Which, for me, mitigates a lot. To Bub’s point earlier, nothing about that game last night really depressed me. It was just one of those games. Except Resop, of course. He REALLY depressed me.

Loved this poem from DOB’s blog earlier in the day:

I have to say that I love KK
He is somehwere below greatness every 5fth day
    He makes no excuses,
    But always he loses,
Still, I will defend him no matter what you say,
    He walks a few,
He gives up a hit or two,
Still, down he will never lay,
People may hate his loses, there are nine,
People may hate his era, way above prime,
Still, He is a decent starter every fifth day.
He MOST CERTAINLY is not suited for the pen,
His margin for error IS ALWAYS razor thin,
Thus, KK MUST REMAIN in the rotation I pray,
He gives up runs in bunches,
But Bobby sticks with him, playing his hunches,
Never from KK shall I stray,
But now the end is sadly near I can feel,
JJ’s hamstring is on the heel,
    Now KK will demoted….NO WAY!!

    Steve Says:

By the way Curtis, I loved this tweet from last night: John Jaso Jingleheinerschmidt. His name is my name too.

  11. 61
    Steve Says:

Braves put Chris Resop on the disabled list with a strained left oblique and called Jesse Chavez back up from Gwinnett. Wow.

    Mara Wanna Says:

I like it when we score. It’s…fun.

  13. 63
    Anne Says:

Scoring is more fun than not scoring. Go Braves!

  14. 64
    Mara Wanna Says:

Just found the SunRays channel! Wahoo! I still have to listen to MLB…the sound on this channel gives a new meaning to the word “sucks”. Anne, I’m looking for you. Do something crazy! Tell Allen I said hello. Isn’t that the usher’s name?

  15. 65
    Curt Says:

Steve, to that point, the organist is playing John Jacob jingleheinerschmidt when Jaso bats. Wonder if he reads my tweets.

  16. 66
    Anne Says:

Inexplicable reasons: I’m not there. Won’t be back till Friday, so you can stop looking. I will certainly say hello to Alan. Were I dating older married men still…he’d be on my list.

  17. 67
    Anne Says:

    Hinske!!

  18. 68
    Anne Says:

GREAT pic, Curt! Did the wifey score those tix? (I’m just assumin’ since she did such a great job earlier in the season)

  19. 69
    Mara Wanna Says:

    I hate Curt.

  20. 70
    Curt Says:

Yeah. The old lady scored the seats again. I’ll give her a hug or something. Slap on the back maybe

  21. 71
    Anne Says:

At the very least, a fist bump. Nice work, Mrs. Curt.

  22. 72
    Tcc Says:

Did you guys see Hinske and McCann do the jumpin’ hip bump in the dugout. They both must have cleared the deck by a good 2 1/2 inches!!

  23. 73
    Mara Wanna Says:

Damn. Really wanted the shutout. Oh well. Shut it down Jonny!

  24. 74
    Anne Says:

Wagner would have finished this off. Johnny???

  25. 75
    Curt Says:

Bub, right on with your prediction. We wore them out tonight. Great fun to be down here. Venters a little shaky but better to do it with a 6 run lead
