Nicest thing about tonight was not being the least bit surprised to find the Braves methodically beating the Tampa Bay Rays.
I don’t know about Hudson’s sinking two-seamer in the sweltering heat tomorrow. I’ve either observed or imagined that heat+humidity brings trouble to Huddy sometimes, but it’s a tough call since he plays in Atlanta after all. But I did notice his awesome performace in Minnesota came in cooler temps.
Great game! Go Braves!!

What an absolute pleasure tonight was. A methodical beating indeed. Do the Rays really look significantly better than the Braves? I don’t think so.
Curt – that’s hilarious about the organist. You’re a genius is really what I took away from that story.
Tcc – LOVED the jumpin’ hip bump thing that Hinske and McCann did. It may have been my favorite part of the game. It speaks to the fun this team is having and the HUGE positive impact Hinske is clearly having on everyone. I love it.

“Pitches slower than Grandma” beat the Yankees tonight. Does that make us feel better?
June 17th, 2010 at 10:27 am
Mara – I had that same thought when I saw the score last night. And to answer your question – yes.

Tonight’s lineup: Prado – 4 Conrad – 5 Heyward – 9 McCann – 2 Glaus – 3 Hinske – 7 Escobar – 6 Cabrera – 8 Hudson – 1

3 up, three grounders. Ohhhh, I’ve got a gooooood feeling about this one! If we win this series, I’m throwing a party. Straight up, I really am.

Heyward swings at a balls in the dirt a lot. It’s weird, since his eye is so good left to right.

“After seeming on the verge of announcing his retirement, Chipper Jones(notes) changed course Thursday and said he won’t make a decision until after the season.”
Geez Louise.

GLAUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 17th, 2010 at 9:26 pm
Amazing how the fortunes of Glaus and the Braves are so intricately tied right now.
June 17th, 2010 at 9:40 pm
Curt, it is. In April it was “as Heyward goes, so goes the Braves” and we only won when he produced. Glaus took that over in May and hasn’t given it back.
Be great to have both hot.

I tell you Bub, being at the game last night, they are a machine. Prado getting on seemingly every time. Glaus knocking in runs. Everyone chipping in. The starting pitching is solid. The bullpen is superb. You look over the entire team and there are only 2 or 3 guys – McLouth, Chavez, Chipper – that you don’t feel completely positive about. It’s hard for me to grapple with after how terrible we have been the past few years.
Amazing we just took 4 of 6 from the Twins and Rays. When we were being swept in St. Louis I’m not sure we ever thought that was possible.

Party at Bub’s house!!!!
June 17th, 2010 at 10:04 pm
Were I still in Alabama I would crash Bubdylan’s party. What a game. What a series. Loving Braves baseball right now. I also love that we face KC while the Mets face the Yankees. Seems like the Phillies are starting to figure out their woes.
June 17th, 2010 at 10:12 pm
Bub, I’ll be there in about 6 hours or so (since I have no idea where you are) and I’m bringing a big bag of Cheetohs and a bottle of Bourbon. See ya!
June 17th, 2010 at 10:14 pm
To hell with it…Cledus, swing by the beach on your way and pick me up.
June 17th, 2010 at 10:38 pm
On my way, Princess! Go Braves!
June 17th, 2010 at 10:41 pm
How big was Mac’s throwing out Crawford at 2nd base in the 6th? The game turned right there. Go Braves!
June 17th, 2010 at 11:28 pm
(I had to drive my sister to the lake, but now I’m ready to PARTY DOWN!!!!!)
What a freaking team, huh??? I’m high on Bravesness. Damn, DAMN, what a great run.
Twins have the most home wins in baseball, and the Rays have the most road wins in baseball, on top of being 1st place teams. And we beat BOTH of them at their strongest venue, after losing the 1st game in both series!
What else can you say? This is some awesome, awesome baseball. This isn’t some well-maybe-if-we-keep-this-up-and-such-and-such-comes-true baseball. It’s solid, bonafide, no more waiting, happy right now baseball.
GO FREAKING BRAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SUMMER HAPPY TIME!!!!!

Late Night BRAVES ROCK THE WORLD Post.

Are we ready to beat up on some Kansas CityPansies? Greinke hasn’t been this year what he was last year has he?
June 18th, 2010 at 11:56 am
I’m not a huge soccer fan but as an American I feel cheated. Also, So. Africa must have enormous Mosquitos.
June 18th, 2010 at 3:28 pm
Mara – he’s no Cy Young candidate this year. In his last 6 starts his ERA is 5.70, his BA against in .280 and OBP against is .316. His numbers were much better to start the year.
