    Curt Says:

Long show folks. Hang in there.

    Bub Selig Says:

Classroom of kids? Baseball is not a public service.

Yunel’s hitting .438 in Toronto and you think, what… he’s coming out of a slump? Please. If he DOES catch fire immediately after leaving the Braves, it’s all the more reason to understand he was not going to hit here.

Putting Infante in to increase Yunel’s trade value? How does that work?

Yunel Escobar is a punk. A bad seed. As his career progresses, whatever doubt you have left will be answered. Remember how Manny exploded for L.A. when he first got there? But wherever you go, there you are. And nobody as petulant as that kid is going to reform himself permanently in the name of an I-Told-You-So.

Who curses at the official scorer? Who does that? Who is so self-involved that the circumstance of the game (runner on first after either an infield hit or error) that they’re completely laid under not because the game is at risk, but because it was scored an error.

Good riddance. I don’t care what he does in Toronto or what Alex Gonzalez does here (though 2 ESPN webgems from just today’s game is mighty nice), this team is much more root-able with him gone.

    Nate Says:

Good show guys. I have to agree that the Braves sold way low on Yunel. I don’t see how the team is better without him and with Alex Gonzalez. Was the team chemistry really an issue? The Braves worry about team chemistry more than any organization in any sport. It’s border line ridiculous. It sounds like we got rid of Yunel for being an outcast. He had a bad half of a season, and the Braves were still in first. I think if you throw in a left handed minor league relief pitcher Wren will go for almost any trade. This trade also makes the Tex trade hurt even worse. To me it means the organization is admitting they got the Yunel or Elvis question wrong.

As far as offense goes, I think the Braves have enough to win the East and get to the playoffs and perhaps get home field advantage. I’ve seen a lot of Braves teams do such things and then not hit in the playoffs. This feels like one of those teams. The playoffs would be great. We haven’t been in a while. It might be worth it to gamble with this lineup just to save the young pitchers in the organization. Then maybe they can add Crawford or Werth in the offseason.

    Curt Says:

Maybe they could have used Yunel as a piece in acquiring a corner outfielder for the post season run? Let Infante play SS for the rest of the season? Heyward has said that he could play CF and has before.

Bub, we get it. You don’t like Yunel and you are happy they got rid of him.

    Kate Says:

Jonny V. suspended four games for throwing at Fielder.

    Marra Wanna Says:

You have got to be kidding! That seems excessive. Didn’t Heyward and someone else get hit also?

  7. 7
    Kate Says:

Bobby also suspended for one game.

Mara, Heyward and Glaus were hit in the same inning of yesterdays game. No Brewers were ejected.

    Marra Wanna Says:

Here come Mr. Angry eyes. The Rev and I are debating whether or not Jonny’s pitch was intentionally. Now he’s calling Jonny a thug because he knows it will piss me off.

  9. 9
    Bub Selig Says:

K, so if you make the same point over and over, that’s fine. But if I respond to it the same way over and over, it’s “we get it,” as if everybody else has moved on.

    Smell ya later.

  10. 10
    Curt Says:

    It was a joke Bub

  11. 11
    Nate Says:

    cards 8 phils 4 bot 6

  12. 12
    Nate Says:

Lol, Yunel hit another HR. So far, he’s 2-4 tonight with the hr and 2 rbi.
    D’backs 5 Mets 0 bot 2.
    Cards 8 Phils 4 F

  13. 13
    Curt Says:

Mets now down 6-0. Could be a profitable day off.

  14. 14
    Mara Wanna Says:

Great show guys. I’m nervous about the Padres series. Our offense needs to bust it wide open and early. Fingers crossed…
What poker phrase do we use for the fun of having Phillies and Mets lose on a night off?

  15. 15
    Curt Says:

    Flush

  16. 16
    Anne Says:

Lookin’ forward to this Padre series. For the first time in a while, I’m attending all three. Go Braves!

  17. 17
    Marra Wanna Says:

Nice one Curt. What would a royal flush be? Yankees get swept by the Orioles the same day?

  18. 18
    Steve Says:

Mara – agreed. Definitely want to see some big offense this week. And, PLEASE, let Nate McLouth be really good or really bad this week so Frank knows which way to go.

  19. 19
    Nate Says:

Any news on who goes to make room for McLouth?

  20. 20
    Ham Says:

Gotta be Blanco. No one else makes sense.

  21. 21
    Marra Wanna Says:

As if Blanco makes sense. In other news…I’m at the Somerset Patriots game with the kiddos. 9 to caught a foul ball before we even entered the park. Steve, I k ow how that must make you feel.

  22. 22
    Marra Wanna Says:

Oooooo! Just got an ugly look from a Mets fan. Yea buddy, my visor has an Atlanta A on it. Whatcha gotta say about that? Huh?
It’s ok. I may not be able to take him but I can certainly outrun him. Besides, he’d get to my kids first. It’s good they learn to defend themselves while their young.

  23. 23
    Curt Says:

Just throw some hair product and a gold chain at him and we he stops to admire it, run away

  24. 24
    Marra Wanna Says:

Hilarious! This guy definitely fits that profile.

  25. 25
    Steve Says:

Mara – you’re right. I am a small person and mad at your 9 year old right now.

Nate – got to be Blanco. Who else would it be?

So, the best thing about this article is certainly the title, but it’s kind of fun to read the Philly misery and the begrudging Braves props in the 2nd half. BEWARE: it’s a little blue. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/422402-nl-east-race-the-devil-wears-prado
