Well….
August 12th, 2010 at 10:05 pm
9-5 Dodgers, Bot 8th, no outs. Torre pulling a Bobby.
August 12th, 2010 at 10:15 pm
Nice that they had to go deep into the pen and I like the length of the game but now it’s time to shut her down.
August 12th, 2010 at 10:23 pm
Steve, is one of those cops Troy Glaus??? Nice.
August 12th, 2010 at 10:38 pm
Broxton, you’re a day early on your meltdown.
August 12th, 2010 at 10:44 pm
sickening…sick and wrong
August 12th, 2010 at 10:48 pm
No worries. That will buy the Braves an extra win in the series.

This is a very cool article about the sport we all love to the point of obsession.

So Bub…what your saying is we’re gonna sweep ‘em right?
August 12th, 2010 at 11:32 pm
A 4 game sweep against that pitching is a tall order. 3 of 4.

Trade rumors.

Mara – I had created my Tiny URL and was about to post that very article.
Talk about baseless conjecture. All this is saying is that someone believes this would be a good deal.
August 13th, 2010 at 12:08 pm
Do we think it would be a good deal? Do we want more bargain bin offense? He’s been hot lately but Troy was hot in May.

I don’t like the Chone Figgins move (aside from the money stuff that Carroll Rogers just covered well on DOB’s new blog) because it doesn’t gain us much. If we bring someone in for 3rd base, then Prado moves back to 2nd and Infante is on the bench. In other words, you gain the new player and lose Infante. And Figgins’ line this year, in 494 PA’s is: .253 .343 .303
Infante’s numbers, in 287 PA’s is: .330 .360 .404. And he has 2 more homers (I’ll ignore Figgins’ 24 more stolen bases).
We don’t need less pop in the lineup. The only move that makes sense is bringing in someone who is significantly better than Infante with much more power.
August 13th, 2010 at 12:54 pm
Agreed!
August 13th, 2010 at 1:21 pm
Braves are recalling Hicks to replace Chipper.
August 13th, 2010 at 3:32 pm
1. Infante 2B, 2. Heyward RF, 3. Gonzalez SS, 4. McCann C, 5. Glaus 1B, 6. Hinske LF, 7. Conrad 3B, 8. Ankiel CF, 9. Hudson P
For the love of Pete, can we not, now, put Heyward in the 3 spot?
August 13th, 2010 at 4:13 pm
No to Chone.
August 13th, 2010 at 5:04 pm
I don’t like Gonzo batting 3rd. Hopefully having him and Glaus in the middle of the order is not the permanent solution. The lineup needs to have Prado-Infante-Heyward at the top once Prado is back. Steve, I agree there is no reason to still be batting Jason 2nd with no Chipper.
August 13th, 2010 at 5:09 pm
Why would you get rid of Yunel for character issues and then trade for Chone Figgins? The first one already made us a weaker team. Getting Chone might put us out of the postseason because Chone would play over Infante. Probably just a rumor…
August 13th, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Would be a total joke to acquire Figgins, for the reasons you state, Nate. I would be dumbfounded.
Agreed on Gonzo in the 3 spot and Glaus in the middle. Hope the pitching holds up because this offense is really getting thin. I count 3 reliable hitters in that line up: Infante, Heyward, McCann.
Heyward might go off tonight if he only had some protection behind him. Yuck. Not a good feeling.
August 13th, 2010 at 5:22 pm
Chipper should retire.
No surprise, though.
August 13th, 2010 at 5:27 pm
Yeah, hopefully Huddy’s got it goin’ on tonight because our lineup looks sad.
August 13th, 2010 at 6:01 pm
Hello from Asheville. Huddy ALWAYS has it goin’ on. …and he can pitch, too.
