I’d kiss a war eagle for Timothy Hudson.

Last year the Braves won 40 home games.
This year, 40 so far. (15 losses).

Did anyone else notice that Chipper looks like he has shed a few pounds since this past Spring and the early part of this year? Maybe that had something to do with his bat picking up.

Crack Research
These are just these starters’ ERA’s versus Atlanta IN THESE GAMES. Not for the year, or career, etc. But, just a glimpse at our lately offense versus what these pitchers normally allow.
Last ten starters faced:
Kuroda 3.53 … vs. Atlanta, 1.28
Wandy 4.18 … vs. Atlanta, 0.77
Happ 4.16 ….. vs. Atlanta, 1.48
Norris 5.64 …. vs. Atlanta, 5.80
Sanchez 3.55 ..vs. Atlanta, 9.00
Cain 3.06 ……. vs. Atlanta, 5.40
Zito 3.35 …….. vs. Atlanta, 2.57
Lincecum 3.15 ..vs. Atlanta, 4.42
Pelfrey 4.16 ….vs. Atlanta, 6.43
Dickey 2.36 ….. vs. Atlanta, 3.00
Santana 3.20 …vs. Atlanta, 5.14
So, we’ve scored less than the average runs allowed against
Kuroda,
Wandy,
Happ,
Zito.
And scored more than the average runs allowed against
Norris,
Sanchez,
Cain,
Lincecum,
Pelfrey,
Dickey,
Santana.
Worth nothing that we’ve faced 7 starters out of 10 with ERA’s of 3.55 or lower, and beaten 5 of them.
Another note: 3 of the four times the we’ve underscored the opposing starters ERA’s have been the last 3 games we’ve played.

FINALLY made it through torrential rain and stupid construction to get to the A-T-L. Listened to the game , very exciting! Hope the rain holds off tomorrow…rather tonight. Anne, we seriously could have passed eachother. Enjoy NC. Are you going to the Biltmore?
August 14th, 2010 at 7:27 am
Anne, if you have never been, and have the time, you really should see the Biltmore. It’s really amazing. And get the audio tour.

Freddie Freeman finished last night 4-5, 2B, RBI, R. Now at .309, 15 HR, 73 RBI. Keep in mind this guy hit below .270 for much of the first half.

Talking Chop hit the nail on the head today with their piece on Freeman, Canizares, and Glaus. I had no idea Canizares was hitting .388 since the break.
August 14th, 2010 at 9:57 am
I just don’t see how the Braves can be relying this heavily on production from an obviously injured Troy Glaus, especially when they have 2 guys at AAA who are healthy, play the same position, and are hitting like crazy.

So I’m looking at the forecast and um…

Really great, them Vanderbilts! Saw the Biltmore today – completely awesome – still 2nd, in my opinion, to Hearst Castle, but maybe it’s the Californian in me. Also saw Carl Sandburg’s house and hung out with his goats. Haven’t had a bum meal here in Asheville yet. GO Braves!!!

Our “big right handed bat in the middle of the order” just got dominated by Ted Lilly. SAD.
