Here’s where you could use KK.

What the heck?
August 9th, 2010 at 10:44 pm
They can play TNT but the video can be of Wile E Coyote blowing himself up.
August 9th, 2010 at 10:48 pm
Maybe they can play that circus music when the clowns file out of the little car.

After missing the last three wins I was a little afraid to watch the games again for supersticious reasons. I guess after tonight I won’t worry about that. Go Braves?
August 10th, 2010 at 10:31 am
I guess Booby was referring to Blue Jays highlights when he said Alex Gonzalez never makes an error.
August 10th, 2010 at 11:12 am
Isn’t that why we brought him over here? He’s now cost us 2 games and contributed directly to a third.
August 10th, 2010 at 11:16 am
Agreed, Curtis. The sure handed Gonz has been anything but.
This is from a listener who wrote in about why Smoltz wasn’t at the Glavine ceremony:
I just wanted to let you know you were wondering why Smoltz wasnt at the Glavine ceremony. I just read the other day that he was trying to qualify for some golf tournament 3.5 hours away from Atlanta. He thought he wasnt gonna make it so he started driving back to attend the ceremony and they called him and said he made it so he had to turn back around and go back.
August 10th, 2010 at 12:11 pm
I remember hearing him say last Wednesday that he was going toward Savannah to golf and planning to return for the ceremony. I kind of want to believe him…and as you’ll recall, I’m not a Smoltz fan, per se.
August 10th, 2010 at 12:29 pm
That story about him playing in the golf tournament is true. it was the Georgia Open. He finished, as I just found out, in 29th place.
“Future Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz making his Georgia Open debut carded another solid round of two-under par round of 70 which included a hole-in-one on the 172 yard 8th hole. Smoltz used a 5-iron for his 6th career ace, but his first one in an organized competition. After a rough start, he was three over through three holes, but he turned it around with a birdie on the fourth hole. Smoltz improved his position from a tie for 34th place into a tie for 29th place.”

I can’t believe I’m going to miss Martin’s return by 1 day. 1 SILLY LITTLE DAY!!!! Stupid rules.
August 10th, 2010 at 3:47 pm
“Mara” Martin will be there all uniformed up, I’m sure! Hang out near the dugout during BP and call his name until he pops out like General Lee/Punxsutawney Phil. …and yes, I looked up that spelling. While I was at it, The Groundhog, so they say, “…is rumored to be fed a strict diet of banana pancakes but under no circumstances can he apply maple syrup.” Maybe Martin likes pancakes, too. Food keeps men around…a little something I’m sure you already know.

Thanks for the tips Anne. Do you think he’ll bump his fists together if I ask him to?
August 10th, 2010 at 3:52 pm
Oh, that’s just FILTHY.
August 10th, 2010 at 4:22 pm
Haha! I mean like he does before his atbats just in case there is any confusion. I know how some of these minds work.

“And the other one that Gonzalez made – he never makes an error. We’ve been catching the ball just great.” – Bob Cox
I’m caught between ripping my shirt in twain and howling like a crazed wolf and … calmly dialing my shadiest friend to ask if he was kidding when he said he knows a real hit man who lives in Phoenix City. Which is the mature reaction?
August 10th, 2010 at 4:46 pm
That’s just Bobby being Bobby.
August 10th, 2010 at 5:10 pm
Steve, where will you be on Monday? We’re at 116 R, which he says is 3B side, 11th row. Does that put me in a decent spot to come meet you somewhere?
I think pre-game is probably out. Sounds like we are leaving just in time to make first pitch or so.

Tonights lineup: Infante, Heyward, Chip, Diaz, Mac, troy , Gonzo , Melky, JJ
August 10th, 2010 at 5:16 pm
I like the small-letter troy. Subtle, appropriate.

#Braves starters for four-game Dodgers series: Hudson on Friday, followed by Lowe, Jurrjens and Hanson.
Looks like you guys will see Hanson.
August 10th, 2010 at 6:58 pm
That works.
Have I mentioned that I love our starting rotation? Even Lowe. (Yes I would still unload that nasty contract in a New Y*rk minute.)
August 10th, 2010 at 7:17 pm
I just got back from Lowe’s game logs, where I had my mind somewhat blown. Did you know that in 12 of his 24 starts this season he has allowed 0, 1, or 2 runs???
In 8 more of them he has allowed 3 or 4 runs (!!!!)
Leaving only 4 of his 24 starts where he gave up 5 or more runs.
The rest of the staff’s 5+ ER games:
Jurrjens – 2 (in 12 starts, same rate as Lowe)
Huddy – 1 (be still my heart)
Hanson – 4
Kawakami/Medlen/Minor – 3 (only 2 for KK… who knew?)
I would say Lowe is holding down his spot amply.
August 10th, 2010 at 7:30 pm
That’s good to know. I’ll be watching Lowe. He was fantastic when I saw him sweep the Phillies. Hopefully he will be as dominant. Do we face Ely?
August 10th, 2010 at 7:33 pm
Team’s record when these peeps start:
Huddy: 14-9
Medlen: 13-1 (good grief. *sheds tear*)
Hanson: 13-10
Lowe: 12-12
JJ: 7-5
KK: 5-11
Minor: 0-1
