That throw was so brutal. And he didn’t even try to gun it. I mean, WTF?!?!? I suppose it was better than all his non-throws from earlier in the year, but to look like you’re not even trying … Frustrated.
So much for that. And I really don’t care to hear about how close the games were and how we hung in there, blah. We’re beyond moral victories, me thinks.
It’s not moral victories. It’s looking for an indication that we have anything left in the tank to win 6 or 7 of the remaining 9. And I think this series showed, at least, that they’re not quitting, the bullpen is still amazing and maybe the team can hit when they’re not facing Hamels, Halladay and Oswalt.
I’m not saying we look like we can make any noise in the playoffs, but I really want to get there to see what kind of magic might happen.
Hadn’t a chance until tonight to listen to the Johnson interview, and my cable being out led me to taking the time. So good, fellas. Could Ernie Johnson have been more affable? Just a delight – great work.
As disappointed as I am in our boys (the players…not YOU boys), I am looking forward to seeing live baseball again on Monday. I’m a-gonna miss it in the off season. GO Braves!!
Soooooo…do we think we can hang on to the WC? Who are Padres/ Giants facing? Any news on JJ? Trying to get my baseball bearings back after two weeks in a cloud. Curt, the honeymoon’s not over but Prado needs a rest. I’ll volunteer to nurse him back to health.
Getting your bearings back: The Braves are two up in the WC, the Padres and the Rox are scuffling as bad or worse than we are and yes, I think the WC is very much for the taking. The latest on JJ is that he should be able to go on Sunday, based on the severity of the injury. I’ve seen nothing in the past day or two about any bullpen sessions or anything like that.
Steve, hate to be a stickler, but we are .5 a game up on the Padres right now for the WC. They and the Giants keep flip flopping for the West lead.
To me the game tonight will be very telling. Facing Zimmerman who has been getting blasted his last 4 starts. Playing in front of maybe 40k fewer fans than were in Philly. But these games mean just as much. Hudson’s going. We have to win this game in a large fashion. A sweep of the Mets and Nats around the debacle in Philly would almost salvage something.

Now we know why he never throws. He can’t

Anne – thanks for the props on the Ernie interview. And he was even MORE affable and gracious off the air. Seriously, a total peach of a guy.

Thanks Steve for the update. Of course my very attentive nursing care would be for the sake of the team. Of course…
September 24th, 2010 at 3:32 pm
Mara – by the way, don’t know how I had 2 games in my head. The Bravos’ lead in the WC is .5. Sorry.

Losing is so much worse than winning.
And Anne, to echo Steve, EJ Jr. is a gem.

STEVE!!!! Easy with my fragile state! So .05…not as good as 2.
September 24th, 2010 at 6:21 pm
Mara – you’re not only a scamp, but also a math whiz. Sorry about the bad info.
JJ is a no go on Sunday. I’d put the chances we see him pitch anymore in 2010 at about a little less than zero.

Ugh…

Stolen from Bowman:
Including Zimmerman’s single, opposing pitchers have batted .321 (9-for-28) vs. Braves dating back to Carpenter’s two-hit game on 9/10

It was a fantastic, magical season.
September 24th, 2010 at 11:13 pm
Except for the 9 game losing streak. And the Pirates’ sweeping us…that was not so magical.
September 25th, 2010 at 12:13 am
And the month of September so far (except for the sweep of the Mets). Not so magical either.
September 25th, 2010 at 8:52 am
And missing the playoffs again.

Come on Braves…Make a liar out of Curt! Turn it around today! Give me hope!
