Curt, I totally forgot about Lives of Others. Writing it down again…
JJ for a bat… depends on the bat. I know we can’t get 2009 value for Jurrjens, but I would not trade him for much less. I’m afraid the same reasons we’d even think about letting him go (2009 Peripherals suggest a career year, Boras, injury concern ever since his days with Detroit, weight gain) are the reasons we would not get a huge return. Taking a chance that he’d return to good/great form with the Braves might be the best gamble with JJ. It reminds me of Soriano: good when healthy. Some question his drive. But Soriano did a nice job with the Rays, so…
Even after all the offensive woes, I still would rather have a great rotation than lose a top pitcher for a bat.

Netflix includes “Steamy” in its descriptors of Lives of Others. Which is another way of saying it is now in my queue.
Is Netflix a status symbol? I really kind of hope so. It should be. It’s a very grown up way of arranging your evening enertainment, don’t you think? It says, “I know what I want, and I’ve known it for three days.” Most of the people I know who have their lives in order do Netflix. My friend who still bounces checks and wears socks that don’t match, he goes to the video store.
Well, I’m claiming it for my status symbol. My car is dumb. My apartment is good, but sheesh, I’ll turn 40 without a mortgage (and not in the good way…), I wear Hawaiian shirts under a jacket in the winter. Those little red envelopes are all I got.

It’s foreign, so steamy should be implied, even for the Krauts.
It is outstanding.
My wife has us on the most low budge Netflix membership you can have. So I guess my status is like social member, without the full benefits of the golf course.

Bub, I’m on the Netflix three-at-a-time plan, appropos of nothing, other than everyone now knowing that I spend more on at-home movies than Curt’s wife. I love it, too. BONUS – live streaming via Wii.
I rarely watch week-to-week shows and prefer to catch up to them later via Netflix. Caught up with last season’s Dexter and 30 Rock, and the finale of The Tudors. Tis the season: tonight am watching Nosferatu the Vampyre, Herzog’s 1979 remake. :30 in and it’s not looking worth my time. I have lines to memorize, anyway…Go Braves (in 2011)!

What play are you doing, Anne?
Are you a fan of the K. Branagh Hamlet? I rented it and liked what I could understand, but I think I’ll have to just buy it and watch it with subtitles a few times. I figure it’ll be worth it to do a little work to get acquainted with the full length Hamlet. (that’s what she said…)
I have to say, though, Jack Lemmon was a big distraction to me. As was Keanu (rolls eyes) in Branagh’s Much Ado About Nothing. I know it sells tickets, but I wish they’d stick to the Brits in Shakespeare movies unless the actor has serious stage chops. (Though, Denzel was good in M.A.A.N.)

Orson Welles was pretty solid as Othello
October 22nd, 2010 at 11:21 pm
Frenchy is in the World Series. That just sounds wrong.
October 22nd, 2010 at 11:33 pm
lol, yeah, “solid” is a good word for it. *In best Undercover Brother impersonation* Sssssssolid…
Oh, no, I forgot about Franc***r being with Texas. Go Yankees. 8)
October 22nd, 2010 at 11:35 pm
Heh. Yanks are done. I didn’t even remember that was tonight. Flu has broken my brain.
October 23rd, 2010 at 12:41 am
Andrus and Feliz headed to the big show. Man, what might’a been.
October 23rd, 2010 at 7:56 am
You did NOT say “Go Yankees”…you’re fired. Not fun seeing Frenchy in the WS but I do like his beard and I got a ton “o” respect for Josh Hamilton. So I’m kinda excited. Now if the Giants can win tonight I’ll be super stoked.
Anne, the Rev and I catch up on Dexter on Netflix. That and Mad Men. My 5 year old knows how to work the ‘flix on the wii. Anywho…go Braves! And Giants!
October 23rd, 2010 at 8:03 am
“You Can’t Take it With You” – 1930s comedy – at the University. Yours truly = The Grand Dutchess Olga Katrina. Blink and you’ll miss me.
“Mara” I wish I could get in to Mad Men…just not doing it for me. (TWSS)
Rangers beating the Yankees…so freaking great. Good for young Jeffy – I’m sure we’ll have plenty of things to tease him about soon.
October 23rd, 2010 at 8:35 am
Hey guys – been buried in work hell. Sorry to have missed the last few days.
Bub – the player personality list is sorely missing Hinske. I’d have him and Ross in the top 3.
Curt – trading JJ scares the hell out of me. I like all the pitching. And no Medlen for essentially all of 2011 leaves me more uneasy.
Go Rangers! So happy to see the Yankees go down. So, so, so satisfying. Way worth Frenchy in the WS as a result. So, can the Giants pull out another win? I don’t think so. I think they are done. And then, Rangers in 6 over the Phils. You heard it here first.
October 23rd, 2010 at 9:34 am
Actually second. I picked the Rangers over the Phils on the show.
Does JS get a ring from the Rangers, because there ain’t no way they are there without his help.
Good to see MLB getting a strong return on their bailouts.
October 24th, 2010 at 10:21 am
A great sports weekend, other than the Jackets. ND loses and Yanks and Phils get eliminated. Perfect.
October 24th, 2010 at 12:48 pm
Annnnnnnnnd, auburn beats LSU! WDE!
October 24th, 2010 at 2:08 pm
Go Dawgs
October 24th, 2010 at 7:31 pm
I think I’m a bad sport. I wanted the Giants to win but now I’m mad at them. Are the Braves ever going to make it to the world series?
October 24th, 2010 at 8:27 pm
Leah, the Auburn game was awesome to watch. My first full game look at Cam. If they can get past Bama in T Town, I gotta think they’re the best in the country.
Can’t understand them not being ranked #1. No SEC team, undefeated, should be behind anybody at this point in the season. I mean, it’s a down year for the conference, but not in the West. 5 ranked teams in the West, and that’s with them all beating each other up.
If Auburn gets the BCS Championship and the Heisman the year after Bama got both, that would be a helluva thing.
October 24th, 2010 at 9:56 pm
Yeah…the Rev is pretty excited. We shall see…
October 24th, 2010 at 10:22 pm
I just saw the BCS poll is convinced. Congrats. (Do you not pull for Auburn secondly to the Bulldogs?)
October 24th, 2010 at 10:29 pm
Heck no. I always want the Hubs happy. I really just pull for the Bulldogs when they do something spectacular.
October 24th, 2010 at 10:32 pm
Ya know…like beat GA.
October 24th, 2010 at 10:35 pm
I kind of was asking if you pull for Auburn at all, as in AT LEAST behind MSU. Wasn’t sure if #45 was a hint that you weren’t that excited.
Cool thing would be if Auburn won the BCS this year and then both schools met undefeated in a sort of tie breaker next year. Pretty unlikely I suppose, since Ingram (and Richardson? and Julio Jones? and McElroy?) will be gone. Will Cam Newton hang around another year?
October 24th, 2010 at 11:09 pm
Leah – I’m glad you’re Leah again.
