It’s really bad to get familiar with the Wilhelm scream. It can totally mess with your viewing experience. When it was just an industry inside joke, part of the reason it was funny is that you can’t just naturally notice it. But it got leaked and now people look for it and memorize it, etc.
We’ve had a nice long look at post-surgery Moylan. How do we feel about him as a reliever next season? I’ve been meaning to bring it up for a while. He came out of nowhere, and I believe he’s headed back there. I think it’s gotten in his head, and I think the league/ division is picking up his delivery fairly easily. How much will he cost? With Wren’s history concerning veteran relievers, I think he might be going bye bye.
I don’t think bringing back Moylan is a HUGE priority. It would be nice because the guys all like him, but it seems weird to think of him as the veteran leader out there. IMO, the veteran leader should be one of the better relievers of a bullpen, and I think Venters, Kimbrel, Dunn, and maybe even EOF are better than Moylan. Not to mention you get Meds back by the end of the year.
This Giants team reminds me of that D’backs team that won it all. I think it was 2001. Not a very impressive lineup at all, but 2 very, very good starters. Matt Cain really impressed me this postseason, and although he looks like something you might see at Bonnaroo, Lincecum is one of the best in the league.
Looking back, I wish it had gone seven games and the Giants won. I like the Rangers alright and I hate it that they finally got there and had such a poor showing. And I hate that Texas fans might make more out of it than is realistic; meaning that the fans will think the Rangers failed in some big way. It’s so luck & momentum driven in the post.
If you really, REALLY wanted to have a World Series that determined the best team in baseball,
1. Play a 140-something game schedule where every team in each league plays every other team that league the same exact amount of games.
2. Let the best records from each league play each other in a 21 game World Series.
First to win 11 games is the champ.
No system is perfect, but I think that would end up with the best team in baseball being the champions 75+% of the time.
Heh, what’ya know. They’re behaving over there. Euphoria?
I’m ready to go back to having a king already. Can I be the first one, though? I’m pretty sure I can make everybody happy. Well, maybe not, but I’ll get rid of everybody who’s not happy under my rule, so in the end it works out.
Steve, since you’ve joined me in the Great PS2 Gen X Revival, you might try Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition, if you and your boy like racing games at all. Nice to look at, not hard to control, family friendly, the manual is helpful. It’s kind of a laid back game, I mean for a racing game. Racing at midnight in the rain in Tokyo is pretty gorgeous.
Curt, I hear ya. I even know some from tonight’s winning party who hoped the wins wouldn’t be so big that the hard times of the next two years would cost them the pres. election. Isn’t that some goofy logic?
I’m going to go out on a limb (because I never, ever make drastic resolves on this site) and say that if the Braves/Liberty/Wren can’t come up with something nice to put on the field this time around, I’m giving it up.
