It would be awesome to be able to get A. Cabrera for CLE…he is a stud, but there is no chance CLE gives him up…same with Tulo and there isn’t a chance in the world we could get him or somebody of that quality…

I think our best hope is for Pastornicky, Lipka, or Salcedo to develop into an everyday guy. I’ve read that Salcedo might be destined for 3rd, but that seems like a more likely destination for Prado. It sounds like Wren really likes all of those guys in terms of projecting into the Major League club sometime in the coming years. Most likely 2013 or 14, which makes me think we sign another Alex Gonzalez type player to a 2 year deal when the time comes. Wren has always been one to surprise the fans with his moves, though, so who knows?
We really, really need a good from JJ today.

At some point you’re going to have to pay Heyward, Hanson, JJ, Freeman, and all these other young guys that you probably want to stick around like Venters and Kimbrel. How much can you tie up in a SS? This sounds like a Curt question.
April 16th, 2011 at 11:53 am
Add Prado to that list of need to keep around guys. Sorry Hammy.
April 16th, 2011 at 12:06 pm
Agreed…..We can’t dump alot of money into SS…but How long do we want to have a mediocre player at SS. I hope Lipka turns into a stud. If we can keep the core set of players you mentioned here…then things look good for the future overall as a team. It just feels like we have been saying that my whole life…

JJ and Lowe need to give us a big day and let the Offense be what it should be…We have to be able to take care of a team like the Mets.
April 16th, 2011 at 12:12 pm
With all of this said I really do like what A. Gonzalez brings to us…we just need him to hit .275 or so and give us some minor glimpses of pop. Not to mention we just need solid play from the ones who haven’t been giving us what we need. I know that sounds pretty obvious but it’s true. Is it wrong to pray for McLouth and Freeman…
April 16th, 2011 at 1:49 pm
I woke up early just for this game (Its 3am here in Manila). *Yawn*. Back to back wins over the Mets will make it worthwhile.
April 16th, 2011 at 3:36 pm
Chipper goes yard again…good start. And Uggla got a hit…Whoa!!! whats that all about it
April 16th, 2011 at 3:42 pm
Turley, A-gon batted .277 in 1999. That’s the only time in his career he’s batted .275 or better. In 2007, he hit .272 but it was in 110 games and less than 400 ABs. He’s a career .248 hitter. .275 isn’t happening. We should be thrilled if he hits .250 and slugs .450.
Nate, I agree about our future at short. Wren will sign a serviceable veteran – hopefully one that’s an excellent defender – and try to address SS with the guys in the farm system, through the draft, or by trading pitching for a prospect. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Diory/Schafer and one of our big three pitching prospects packaged in a deal later this season for either an outfielder or a SS.
Only way anything changes is if ownership sells to someone willing to open up the budget.
P.S. – Turley, I’m posting this just as A-gon drilled a homer.
April 16th, 2011 at 3:58 pm
Oh yeah I agree hitting.272 would be more than a dream…but I think we need somebody to hit around that…right now it isn’t Freeman or McLouth so hopefully somebody steps it up
April 16th, 2011 at 4:23 pm
It might be as perfect a day, weather-wise, in Atlanta that you will ever find.
All we can do is hit solo homers.
April 16th, 2011 at 4:28 pm
yeah we don’t like to hit homers with people on base….I’ll take it
April 16th, 2011 at 5:46 pm
Pure – do you live in Manilla? If so, story, please.
April 16th, 2011 at 6:42 pm
Thats a W…gotta love solo HR’s. Lowe gives us a solid start as well…one down one to go
April 16th, 2011 at 7:37 pm
The Mets are just what we needed. They suck so much that its cute.
April 16th, 2011 at 7:49 pm
The Mets suck so much they’re making me think the Braves are really good.
April 16th, 2011 at 8:05 pm
Yes Steve good point…How bout hinske 3-3 so far…but Uggla isn’t getting anything done with runners on base…he needs to snap out of it
April 16th, 2011 at 8:31 pm
the mets suck so much we might win a series
April 16th, 2011 at 10:08 pm

April 16th, 2011 at 11:27 pm

Let’s go Braves! It’s amazin’ how the Mets can make you look good. Can;t we move up some more Mets games and make today a triple-header?
