That was a good win. Hanson was sharp. But I’m still not comfortable with this formula for winning where we only have one good inning offense-wise and we have to make it hold up until the end of the game.

Walker,
Another good point from you. Heyward is learning the Major league game and doesn’t need a public put down. Heyward in the $400,000 range not the $80,000 a game range like Uggly. Uggla makes in one week what Heyward gets for the year!!!!
April 23rd, 2011 at 8:50 am
Better get used to it.
Team ERA: 3.27
Team BA: .228

Granted, it is too early to judge, but is it possible that Fredi is not that good? Sub .500 at Florida; they look better without him. Maybe he got fired for a reason. So, either way, it will take a good manager to keep his team in the race in this division!! We’ll see. As for GM Wren, he better find a couple of good bench players.

About the crazy stat where only 4 errors have been committed by Braves opponents against them this year — If we’re not putting the ball in play, there’s nothing for them to make an error on.
April 23rd, 2011 at 1:04 pm
That and no extra outs or gift unearned runs
April 23rd, 2011 at 3:25 pm
They got a different kind of gift today; two walks to start the game. Too bad Prado never got close to reaching second base on his steal attempt. You won’t often see anyone get thrown out by more. Not much speed on the Braves.

I just listened to the latest Braves Clubhouse Report podcast and I must day I was impressed with Linebrink. He was very eloquent during the interview and made a lot of good points. Listening to him talk, he sounded a lot like Billy Wagner. But then again, I’m not American so all you guys sound the same to me.
April 23rd, 2011 at 4:16 pm
If he can pitch like Wagner, we got a steal.
April 23rd, 2011 at 6:22 pm
No way BC takes out Huddy with one out to go. Good move by Fredi.
April 23rd, 2011 at 6:23 pm
…and, we’re gonna win a series!!!! Go Braves!
April 23rd, 2011 at 7:39 pm
#136, that’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout.
McLouth is starting to look like the pesky, tough out Nate McLouth of old. Very nice to see. I can’t believe I just put Nate McLouth and tough out in the same sentence.
April 23rd, 2011 at 7:56 pm
Isn’t McLouth our 3rd or 4th highest paid player? You are right though, he is looking like he is at least alive. You aren’t the same Nate are you?
April 24th, 2011 at 8:41 am
Are you guys still doing MVP/LVP in the show?
April 24th, 2011 at 8:44 am
Also, what’s the story on the Venters arm issue? I’ve heard it’s no big deal, but if he goes down I think we all know that our ‘pen becomes significantly weaker. His stats since coming into the league are redonkulous. All-Star worthy, imo.
I also just looked at the NL stat leaders, and there sits Kimbrel tied for number 1 in saves. Pretty cool.
April 24th, 2011 at 10:22 am
Kimbrel is pretty awesome. Wouldn’t it be great if Kimbrel, Freeman, and Beachy were 1-2-3 in the ROTY voting? Gotta sleep now, need to wake up at 4am for the game with the Giants. Beachy for the sweep!
April 24th, 2011 at 12:04 pm
Not a stat guy but since last sunday:
Heyward 6-24; BA – .250; OBP – .308; Slug – .375; 1HR – 4K – 2RBI – 2W – 2R.
McLouth 7-20; BA – .350; OBP – .480; Slug – .500; 6R – 1RBI – 3 Doubles – 5K – 5W.
Both did have off days during the week and does not include Sunday.
Who should bat 2nd? Do we move McLouth to lead off and move Prado down to #2?
During this time we went 3-3, whats the braves next move
April 24th, 2011 at 3:19 pm
Uggla should be batting 8th.
April 24th, 2011 at 4:09 pm
Nothing like doing Posey a favor with the changeup.
April 24th, 2011 at 4:58 pm
Nothing like signing Uggla long term after his best year in the Majors. He is looking more and more like one of those players that is washed up young (someone named andruw ring a bell)? A good manager would either bench him or bat him 8th or both. Yes, he may step out of this funk but right now he can’t swing, run or anything else; not even running hard.
April 24th, 2011 at 5:01 pm
Notice, they are pitching around Chipper to get to Uggla?
April 24th, 2011 at 5:24 pm
Game not too important to Fredi if you leave someone in for 4 hits and a walk.
April 24th, 2011 at 5:29 pm
Is Fredi kinda slow? 3 hits and a bases loaded walk and he’s still pitching. WTF?
I would have pulled him after the Cody Ross hit. SMH
April 24th, 2011 at 5:50 pm
Dried Turd > Fredi Gonzalez
That is all.
April 24th, 2011 at 6:40 pm
Holy cow! Do your last few comments still stand? I was feeling really good about this team even the skipper until i read that he was less than a turd.
If a Giant had to hit a two run homer I’m glad it was Buster Posey.
We swept the Giants! What say you???
