I just purchased tickets for a couple of games this season. It will be my first trip to Turner Field.

#25 – You know, I got the same impression with that swing. Now, hopefully he won’t go up there looking to knock it out of the park like Freddi seems to be doing. Gotta keep it simple up there.

#26 – Kate, that’s cool. What city are you in, if I may ask?

Orlando

Freeman day to day with an oblique injury. I hate the oblique.
June 14th, 2011 at 8:09 pm
Oh, is this the part where we go back to .500?
June 14th, 2011 at 9:35 pm
Meanwhile in OTHER crap news…Phils up 5-1 over the Fish at the moment…
June 14th, 2011 at 10:18 pm
Well, our franchise over .500 certainly didn’t last long… one game over, now one game under?
June 15th, 2011 at 9:15 am
The rest of this week is HUGE. This could be where the Braves keep pace or really, really slip back. If they don’t take the next two from the Mets…I see a possible 1-6 or 2-5 week. Not good. And I completely agree with Nate. Can somebody PLEASE get the Braves working on getting their obliques in shape? Good Gravy.

Last year, a win cost the Braves $1.7+ mil, 8th best in baseball:

Also buried in that long, dense article was a link to another piece arguing that set-up men are more valuable than closers. Anyone rather see Venters keep working 7th or 8th inning instead of the 9th?

Are we going to have baseball tonight? I’ve been meaning to mention, “Downcast” is a great app to help manage podcasts. It automatically downloads new ones from iTunes and has lots of scrubbing features.

Terry Collins is a jerk. I officially don’t like him. Hell be fired in two years for being what he’s been all along. A mediocre manager. Here’s what he said about the wet field yesterday.
“You alter the field according to your team,” Collins told reporters. “These [Braves] guys do not steal bases…[Jordan] Schafer is about the only guy. They’re a fly-ball hitting team. They’re not a groundball hitting team. So the field was overly wet. I don’t know what to say, except I’d like to move the fences back when we play against [Florida slugger Mike] Stanton, but we can’t.”
June 15th, 2011 at 8:40 pm
Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Reyes also slip the inning after the drying agent was put onto the field?
Also Schafer had like 4 more stolen bases than Reyes over the last 8 games.

Warning: Anne and Leah at the same ballgame on Friday. Wear your batting helmets! Go Braves!!
June 15th, 2011 at 9:42 pm
Go Braves indeed. Have to say, the way this game was shaping up I’m not too sad about the rain delay. Bring on the bullpen.
June 16th, 2011 at 7:53 am
If Terry Collins is shocked that a team alters their field to suit their play, he’s a dolt. So do the Mets. You cut the grass a certain way, you water it a certain way, you have the AC blow out when Kirby Puckett is up to hit a game winning homer in game 6 of the F-ing World Series. It’s called homefield advantage, jerk off. And guess what, you won the game despite all of that. Shut up.
June 16th, 2011 at 9:08 am
But seriously, Curt. How do you really feel?
June 16th, 2011 at 9:11 am
Yeah…you tell ‘em. This good week/bad week has gotten in the Braves heads. Oh, and my co-worker who is the die hard Phillies fan is in town this week. Awesome.

Ham, why don’t you go celebrate another Boston championship, you turncoat.
June 16th, 2011 at 12:50 pm
I hate it when Dad and Dad fight!
June 16th, 2011 at 1:45 pm
I don’t look at the Division standings anymore. Too depressing. I’ll just stick to looking at the Wildcard until we get back on track.
