I love the unbalanced schedule this year. The Phillies and Mets play the Red Sox and Yankees while we play the Mariners and Orioles. Its so unfair, but I love it.
July 1st, 2011 at 7:32 pm
Not sure I’ve been this impatient for a Braves game since opening day.
C’mon, Bravos. Knock Jeremy Guthrie into next week. Punish them for being Orioles, for being from smutty Baltimore, for firing Frank Wren, for wearing Halloween colors in the summertime. Show no mercy.

10 pitch 1st for Jurrjens. Good… good…
July 1st, 2011 at 7:52 pm
Uh, Chipper? First pitch swinging after a 4 pitch walk? Why, man?
July 1st, 2011 at 7:57 pm
Jair mowin’ ‘em down. 21 pitches through 2.
July 1st, 2011 at 8:05 pm
Okay, Braves. Don’t have to knock him into next week. How about into tomorrow? Into 11:00 tonight? Something?
July 1st, 2011 at 8:15 pm
If Schafer keeps sliding all through this series, I’m going to have to call it a day on my hopes for him being a lead off hitter for the club this year.
July 1st, 2011 at 8:34 pm
Guthrie pitching his best game of the year so far.
Sigh.
July 1st, 2011 at 8:49 pm
I know Bub – I get all excited and then the depressing offense shows up. JJ is looking amazing, however.
July 1st, 2011 at 8:55 pm
YEAH, J HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-UTIFAL!!!!
July 1st, 2011 at 8:56 pm
Jason! Oh, if we can just get him going …
July 1st, 2011 at 9:04 pm
Well, that’s that. Great, great job, JJ.
The only reason I really, REALLY wanted Jurrjens to pitch a no-hitter was because he leads the league in ERA and wins, but gets zero consideration for starting the all star game. That would have blown up in ESPN’s face if he had thrown a no no.
(I do think Halladay deserves the start, but it should at least be a discussion.)
July 1st, 2011 at 9:15 pm
Uggla K’s thrice versus Jeremy Dang Guthrie.
July 1st, 2011 at 9:30 pm
Dang, Jair! Couldn’t have picked a better time for this performance. Venters needs rest and the offense can’t give it to him.
One more inning.
July 1st, 2011 at 9:44 pm
So, I guess it is time to trade Jurrens for the big bat we need (plus a few prospects)… Since Boras will take him out of town in 2013…
(Not my idea, read it somewhere, suggested TX for Nelson Cruise…)
July 1st, 2011 at 9:48 pm
Was it a veteran move to put himself in front of the second baseman’s glove, good luck that the throw hit his helmet or bad defense?
July 1st, 2011 at 9:54 pm
4 K’s for Dan Uggla. He’s completely lost. This isn’t ending any time soon.
Maybe Heyward can get his groove back and that’ll be something. I can’t believe we brought another slugger here who just fell through the stinking ground.
July 1st, 2011 at 9:55 pm
Can’t get behind boo’ing him on the field, though. He hustles too much for that.
July 1st, 2011 at 9:59 pm
GREAT GAME, JAIR JURRJENS!!!!
Can’t stop smiling.

Oh…how I want to wish that one hit away. Great game for a great fella. However,Dan needs to change his name. It can no longer be Dan Uggla.
July 1st, 2011 at 10:11 pm
11 wins and a 1.89 ERA should definitely put you in the discussion.
July 1st, 2011 at 10:32 pm
Optimism, thy name is Jair. What a game, seriously. Except for Uggla.
July 1st, 2011 at 11:25 pm
Happy to be home after a GREAT game. Don’t know if you could hear/see on TV, but when the no-hitter was ended, the crowd liberally applauded JJ – many on their feet.
For the record, Ballpark Frank was crushed at that moment, that he could no longer lawd it over you guys that “he was there” when JJ pitched that no-hitter.
Ham – Struggs got a double…
SO GREAT to see both McLouth & Schaefer in the outfield. The Samson-like locks are workin’ well for Natey-boy.
July 1st, 2011 at 11:34 pm
Dan Uggla’s 2 WORST years were 2007 and 2009 were he hit .245 and .243 respectively. His hit totals were 155 and 137. He has 54 hits SO FAR this year. Anyone seeing him getting at least 83 hits for the rest of the season? He also has 12 HRs and 28 RBIs. If he had 0 HRs he would have 16 RBI (and that gives him a few for men on base when he hit a HR) for the first half of the season.
If he were playing the way he is capable of playing….even average. I wonder how many more wins the Braves would have?
On a high note…great game by the Braves tonight.
Wonder what neck muscle that Chipper injured getting hit in the back of the head. It was funny to see hit giving Derrick Lee a hard time for hitting him.
JJ……….we are not worthy….
