Kimbrel and Hanson should replace Lincecum and Cain on the All Star team.

#251 – Nice, Leah. Both my wife and oldest son cannot believe the “how can he not retch every time he does that?” maneuver. They loved your post.

    Steve Says:

Where did people hear about the cracked knee cap? I can’t find it.

BTW, here’s the official press release about it from the Bravos:

Chipper Jones Undergoes Right Knee Surgery

Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones underwent successful arthroscopic surgery today to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. The procedure was performed by Dr. Marvin Royster in Atlanta, Ga.

Jones is expected to return to the playing field in approximately two to three weeks.

Steve, there was a tweet by someone, can’t remember who, but they recanted it. I think it was just the tear, no break.

    Leah Says:

Clarification to what I said about Chipper on air: He did not have a crack in his kneecap, just the meniscus tear. #Braves #MLB

I was worried about Chipper for a minute there. Can’t wait for the game tomorrow. This series is ours.

    Steve Says:

Yikes. Regarding Chipper, I feel a huge sense of relief over something that never really happened.

Adam, I’m with you. I know they say there’s no momentum in baseball and yet I feel like we’ve got a bunch of momentum right now.

    Leah Says:

My favorite is how quiet the crowd gets when they start to feel the heartbreak. Hee Hee!

Thanks for posting that. I just repeated what he said while watching the game on Fox.

Another subject….Congrats to Jeter for 3,000th hit today. Pretty neat it was a HR. Question for all…. if you had caught the ball, would you had done what the fan did? Rumor is the ball would have gotten him 250,000 cash.

The Rev and I just had that discussion. I’d like to say that I would but I don’t know…classy move for sure. The Rev said he’d throw it back. I believe him. He’s classier than I in most instances.

    Frigatedoc Says:

Maybe the guys can discuss it on the show tomorrow….. (even if it is not Braves related) :)

    Walker Says:

Yeah congrats to Derek Jeter. I was reading an article about him and it makes one really interesting point. Derek Jeter is probably the most watched baseball player or athlete in history. And the writer is probably right. He’s played for the most popular sports franchise in history. He plays every night in front of huge crowds. He’s played in the playoffs every year in front of national audiences. He’s played in an era with MLB satellite tv packages and mlb.tv. He also was hilarious on the Other Guys. “Biracial Jesus” LOL.Everyone knows who Derek Jeter is, even people who don’t watch baseball at all. Interesting.

    #276 @ Nate.

I agree…. I heard Jim Rome say on the radio that “the 3 pitchers from the Giants who were not picked for the All-Star game were going to be pissed.”

    Curt Says:

Doc, you beat us to the punch. That question is in the lineup for tonight’s show.

  15. 290
    Pure Says:

If I had caught Jeter’s HR, I would have yelled “mine, Mine, MINE!!!!” And then I can finally get over ’96 and ’99.

  16. 291
    Walker Says:

I know the fan was trying to be nice but cmon. Derek Jeter has made over 200 million dollars in his career. Yet this guy who said he works at a cell phone store probably making 35,000 dollars a year won’t even hold out for half a million dollars which Jeter or someone else would have for sure paid him. Very stupid.

  17. 292
    Leah Says:

What? There’s a new show tonight? Awesome surprise!

  18. 293
    Nate Says:

Same lineup as yesterday, swap Hanson for Lowe. I am kind of surprised to see Conrad not get a start in Chipper’s absence. I guess Fredi is all about some Lugo.

    john j Says:

Comment on Saturday’s TV: Best thing for fans would be for the network to turn up the fan noise at the park so we can turn down the commentators. They never shut up with their worthless comments!! Better yet, fire them and save some money. Do they really believe that the more the announcers talk, the more people watch?

  20. 295
    Anonymous Says:

Re #291 – I saw a quote from the guy that caught it saying something like, “I’m young, I have plenty of time to make money.”

  21. 296
    Frigatedoc Says:

    And so it begins…….

  22. 297
    Leah Says:

Was it the goal of TBS to find the most annoying noise to accompany the score board and highlights icons? So annoying!

  23. 298
    Frigatedoc Says:

How did Lowe get out of that one….

  24. 299
    Frigatedoc Says:

    @ Leah…..

They have the Braves “blacked out” here in Memphis. Wierd I watched them on TBS my entire life growing up on TBS and now I can’t. Thank goodness for Fox South!

    Mark in Memphis Says:

    Appropriate description:

    “Lowe escapes the inning.”

Going 3-0 to Howard with two runners on was criminally stupid…
