Leah, thanks for sharing Prado’s comments. It wasn’t his day running, hitting or fielding; it is baseball. But he is a good player who plays with intensity and will help us win many games.

Easy easy easy. Let’s watch the personal attacks (unless they are directed to one Fredi or Alex Gonzalez).

Why can’t we all just get along…
July 21st, 2011 at 10:14 pm
Anybody else notice that when Kimbrell gets two outs he starts rushing his pitches… and he usually walks someone?
When he pauses a bit in his set position, he throws a much better pitch…
July 22nd, 2011 at 12:53 am
I usually don’t do this, but I’m guaranteeing the Braves win their next 7 games. The pitching we face against the Reds and Pirates can be handled easily. I just have this feeling.
July 22nd, 2011 at 8:19 am
john j – were the Rockies fans stunned? crying? despondent? as we kept coming back and then finally settled in to the lead? I want to hear some stories of real hopelessness.
July 22nd, 2011 at 8:20 am
#155 – Wow, Walker. OK, I’m ready to sit back and enjoy a week straight of victories.
July 22nd, 2011 at 8:28 am
Anybody else looking forward to seeing Dontrelle Willis pitch this weekend? Now there’s a guy who had a lauded start and crazy section for a bit…
July 22nd, 2011 at 8:57 am
I must say, I am a fan of these late afternoon games.
The Mess looked at Minor yesterday. I consider Minor expendable at this point. I’d like to hang onto the big 3 of Teheran, Delgado, and Vizcaino.
July 22nd, 2011 at 9:34 am
Tomorrow is the day game, got all excited for nothin’.
July 22nd, 2011 at 9:36 am
I just think there has to be a way to package Minor for a better deal than two months of Beltran. Can Beltran even play CF full time?
July 22nd, 2011 at 10:30 am
No. If an AL team got him they would probably DH him a lot. It’s not really in Wren’s style to do a trade for a rental player. If the Braves acquire a LF or CF they really need to get someone who can fill that role for more than the final half of this season. There really are not any great options in our farm system.
B.J. Upton could be a real possibility. He was brought up last year, too. He is crazy talented, but he is also crazy.
July 22nd, 2011 at 10:59 am
I would love to get Upton, his splits away from the Trop are really good.
I would also be happy getting a Reed Johnson type (plays all three OF spots and is good against lefties) and a RH relief pitcher at the deadline.
Beltran against lefties this season .232/.291/.547.
July 22nd, 2011 at 11:11 am
Upton could be one of those guys who just needs a change of scenery. He is better than both McLouth and Schafer. It just seems bizarre to trade Yunel for character issues and essentially acquire a less talented player a year later with very similar issues.
July 22nd, 2011 at 11:18 am
As long as it isn’t Frenchy. I’d rather we got Melky back.
July 22nd, 2011 at 12:25 pm
#165…Yowsers! Fredi handled Hanley Ramirez kinda crazy last year. Couldn’t he handle Upton?
July 22nd, 2011 at 1:33 pm
“Once the Mets act on Beltran, they can listen more seriously to offers for some of their other players. The team, however, likely will proceed carefully. Club officials do not want to give up on the season entirely”
Homerism in the land of sucktitude…
July 22nd, 2011 at 1:45 pm
Listen to this Peter Gammons interview (it’s in the first 3 or 4 minutes). He thinks the Braves are the front runners for Beltran. http://t.co/i7W8kxw
Also, DOB just tweeted that Gearrin’s been sent down and Christian is back up. Good move.

“Homerism in the land of sucktitude…”
Mets fans should get t-shirts made.
July 22nd, 2011 at 1:49 pm
I think a more mature Frenchy would make our bench stronger, while building on the chemistry that makes us the Braves
July 22nd, 2011 at 3:46 pm
Olney thinks we lead for Beltran, too.
July 22nd, 2011 at 3:53 pm
Anybody know who’s pitching for Gwinnet on Tuesday? I’ll be headed to Durham donning Braves’ emblems from head to toe. Ok…maybe head to belly button but if I had Braves shorts, socks and shoes I’d wear them too.
July 22nd, 2011 at 4:17 pm
Bub, I know that you already mocked this up, but where do we put Beltran if we get him? Is this the lineup . . . .
Shafer
Prado
Beltran
McCann
Freeman
Uggla
Heyward
Gonzalez
Pitcher
What is the lineup when Chipper comes back?
Prado
Beltran
Chipper
McCann
Freeman
Uggla
Heyward
Gonzalez
Pitcher
I like them both, come to think of it. Not to count our chickens before they hatch, but if the Mets are willing to give us two months of Beltran (and maybe some $$ and a reliever) for Minor, I think we take it.
July 22nd, 2011 at 4:21 pm
Fingers crossed that they throw Manny Acosta into the deal
July 22nd, 2011 at 4:25 pm
“Francoeur, 27, has appeared in the postseason twice and reached the World Series with the Texas Rangers last year. He has a .973 OPS against left-handed pitching in 2011, making him one of the most coveted right-handed hitters on the midseason trade market.”
Anybody expect to read this sentence?
