    Walker Says:

These last 5 games are evidence that we need ALOT of help. Whats the point of going to the playoffs without the ability to win the World Series. This is frustrating. I want a championship!!

    Curt Says:

    See: *Payroll restrictions*

It’s going to be Ludwick. I guarantee.

    Bubdylan Says:

Thanks, Dan. You just brought my uber crap evening back down to regular crap.

    Pure Says:

BREAKING: Hunter Pence removed from Astros’ game, headed to Phillies in blockbuster trade.

  5. 380
    Bubdylan Says:

Braves were right to refuse to top that offer from Philly. But it is still agonizing news.

  6. 381
    Nate Says:

They add yet another All-Star, we will add another outfielder hitting below the National League Average. Seems about right.

  7. 382
    Walker Says:

Sad thing is the Phillies really didn’t give that much up.

  8. 383
    Bubdylan Says:

Another nice outing by Beachy. Love that guy.

  9. 384
    Nate Says:

#373, Steve, I absolutely think it does. How can it not?

Chipper had a quote the other day about if they continue to pitch (the Braves) they will keep winning. Well, Chip, it would be real super if we could help our pitchers out every once in a while. Isn’t that part of the team concept? Helping each other out and not relying on one part to carry the load. Right now we’re just supporting what I’m sure Boras is already telling JJ and Tommy, “you will never win 20 games in ATL, and good luck being making the All-Star team every year with that offense.” A lot of contracts are incentive driven, and those bonuses definitely matter to the players.

    Nate Says:

#381, they really ddidn’t. The Astros are like their second AAA team.

  11. 386
    Nate Says:

    *didn’t

  12. 387
    Bubdylan Says:

Not to sound – whatever – but we’re 2-hitting the Marlins and Dan’s smash puts him at a 20 game hitting streak. And his July OPS will close out between .950 and 1.000

    Go Braves.

  13. 388
    Nate Says:

Anyone else wanna kidnap Infante and leave him on Fredi’s doorstep?

  14. 389
    Pure Says:

Jon Heyman: Astros prefer to do Pence deal with Braves, but Atlanta very protective of big-time pitching prospects.

I wonder what was on the table?

  15. 390
    Bubdylan Says:

Man, Alex Gonzalez is awful at hitting. Just, so bad.

  16. 391
    Nate Says:

Has a team ever won a World Series with potential 4-5 guys in the lineup hitting below .220 or .230?

  17. 392
    Walker Says:

@384 you are so right. The Phillies organization must be blackmailing the Astros.

    Jayson Stark
Pence trade goes down on one-year anniversary of last #Phillies-#Astros trade, for Roy Oswalt.

  18. 393
    Bubdylan Says:

    Cantstandya with a ribbie!

  19. 394
    Nate Says:

They could have an outfield of Victorino, Pence, and Brown(if he gets it going) for the next 5+ years. I hate them.

  20. 395
    Curt Says:

We just need a better trading partner than the Royals

  21. 396
    QC Bravo Says:

So the Giants get Beltran, Phillies get Pence, and Braves get Buster Olney saying they are not as close on Pence b/c “they don’t value OBP very much.” Sure, why would you value the ability to not make outs? So do I need to put away my Braves Michael Bourn jersey? Should I cancel the Upton jersey order? Or I will just put my head in a waffle iron – Phillies strike again.

  22. 397
    Curt Says:

Not to not hate that the Phils got Pence, but their infield is 800 years old and they just traded away their 1st baseman of the future. They have the money, but they are going to have to spend a lot of it on replacing that entire group. Add to that, they have traded away their top 3 pitching prospects the last 2 years to the Astros and Blue Jays and their rotation is aging quickly. I concede nothing to those guys. Even with Pence. We have so much more young talent.

And Brown has shown me nothing.

  23. 398
    Bubdylan Says:

Another RBI for Freddie Not-Much-Upside Freeman.

  24. 399
    Pure Says:

CSN Philadelphia reported that minor-league pitcher Josh Zeid and a player to be named will complete the four-player package.

  25. 400
    Bubdylan Says:

    Curt? You okay?
