i bet frank wren sitting back whiching that he had traded derek lowe, hotdogs $3,drinks $4 derek lowe wasted money he is the weakes length. everybody need to stop looking at strikes go by and stop swinging at dirt balls, maybe we can win some games.

They should just shut down Lowe for a couple of starts and see if he can get his control back and mechanics back through mound sessions with McDowell, Ross, Mac, Medlen, whoever. He is just getting crushed right now, and the Braves aren’t really in a position where they can be taking a guaranteed loss 1 out of every 5 games. Just like we shouldn’t be spotting teams what feels like 9-12 outs every game with our lineup. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team hit this many infield/foul territory pop ups or ground into as many DPs as these guys have in the past 10 games or so.

Heyward has to step up. we need him to get in one of his hot streaks and stay in it.
August 3rd, 2011 at 12:11 am
I’ve given up on Wayward this seaon. I just chulk it up to the league catching up to him — hence the sophomore slump.

The Braves really needed the pitching to be great while McCann and Chipper were down. It has been anything but. The All Star break sure did screw this team up.
August 3rd, 2011 at 7:58 am
Atlanta is batting .246 on the season with the bases loaded, and since July 25, Atlanta is 15-for-81 (.185) with runners in scoring position.
FAIL

Uggla on Freeman via AJC:
“He’s a lot better hitter than I am so his [streak] will probably go on a lot longer than mine.”
August 3rd, 2011 at 12:04 pm
How much do you think game time temperature plays a part in Lowe’s success? He was good last September, when it’s still hot but cooling down, and in the cold of October. He was great in April when it there was still a nip to the air. It seems like he’s progressively gotten worse as the Summer goes by. This is a great time for someone named Bub to come through with some Lowe data on cooler months vs hot.
August 3rd, 2011 at 12:12 pm
I don’t know how the Braves expect Heyward to do well if he doesn’t play. Hell we threw Uggla out there everyday when he sucked. Way to ruin and alienate a future superstar. And Heyward will be a star. Good luck getting that hometown discount when he becomes a free agent.
August 3rd, 2011 at 12:49 pm
Heyward certainly isn’t helping things, but those team numbers are atrocious. Almost unbelievably bad. Joe Simpson talks all the time about great hitters who take the approach that it is the pitcher in jeopardy when the bases are loaded. The Braves sure don’t seem to take that to heart. And just the fundamental stuff. The bunts and the sac flies. It’s beyond maddening.
August 3rd, 2011 at 2:27 pm
Those are a lot better with MEN ON BASE. Finally.
August 3rd, 2011 at 2:28 pm
The Freeman/Uggla hug post-Uggla homers is hysterical. Much better than the Uggla/Cody Ross kiss on the check they did in FL.

Here’s how the Phils and Braves have done against the NL East(before today’s games):
Phils- Nats 6-3, Mets 8-4, Marlins 9-3, Total 23-10
Braves- Nats 5-6, Mets 4-5, Marlins 6-3, Total 15-14
August 3rd, 2011 at 2:39 pm
We’re 6-6 against each other
August 3rd, 2011 at 2:58 pm
So frustrating.
August 3rd, 2011 at 3:00 pm
If the Braves have a chance to win this game it will be despite Fredi Gonzales. He has no idea when a pitcher is piting into trouble. 6-4 Braves but for how long?
August 3rd, 2011 at 3:03 pm
Yeah, Fredi takes the starting pitcher out once the big damage has been done. I know we’re still ahead by two runs but when you factor momentum in there, it can just kill you.
Bobby Cox 2.0.
August 3rd, 2011 at 4:13 pm
Remember that 6 game WC lead just a few days ago? Fredi seems to think it is still April and there is plenty of time to turn things around. He wants to experiment so he knows what to do when it really counts. Sorry, but I count Fredi as one of Wren’s screwups (Just an opinion).
August 3rd, 2011 at 5:20 pm
After all of the frustration this year, there are some things that have never changed…
Death and taxes….
AND
O’Flaherty, Venters, and Kimbrel…….wow
August 3rd, 2011 at 7:03 pm
John J, I have to agree with you on that one. Wren was so eager to have Fredi, that he didn’t even interview other candidates. Personally, I would have liked the Braves to sign some young 21st century whiz kid manager that knows what he’s doing.
August 4th, 2011 at 1:29 am
I THINK FREDI NEED TO SEND DEREK LOWE TO THE BULLPEN TO DO RELIEF UNTIL HE CAN PROVE HE IS GOOD ENOUGH TO COME BACK TO THE STARTING ROTATION,HE IS JUST TRYING TO AIM HIS PITCHES AND HOPE THY ARE STRIKES,I ALSO THINK FREDI GONLAEZ NEED TO BE EVALUATED FOR HIS POOR COACHING HE NEED TO WORK ON TEAM BUNTING TECHNIQUE,CRACK DOWN HARD ON PLAYERS WHEN THEY LEAVE ALL THOSE RUNNERS ON BASES IN SCORING POSITIONS,ALSO THIRD BASE COACH HAD MADE A COUPLE BAD DECISION WHEN A RUNNER TRY TO TAKE EXTRA BASES AND GET THROW OUT ,SOMETIMES HE HOLD RUNNERS ON BASE WHEN HE SHOULD LET THEM GO,ALSO LOT OF THE GUYS ARE NOT HUSTLING WHEN THEY RUN TO FIRST BASE,YOU SHOULD HUSTLE DOWN THAT LINE NO MATTER WHERE THE BALL IS HIT. ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT BACK TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP IS YOU GOT TO PLAY LIKE CHAMPIONS TOGETHER,GIVE THE FANS WHAT THEY COME TO THE BALL GAME FOR WE MISS CHIPPER AND BRIAN IN THE LINE UP BAD,JOHN SHEHOLZ NEED TO EVALUATE FRANK WREN DECISION ON SOME OF THE PLAYERS.
August 4th, 2011 at 6:10 am
I’ve been saying it all year, Dan Uggla is the best player in the league!
August 4th, 2011 at 11:21 am
Does anyone know if Uggla got player of the month for July, and if not, then who did?
August 4th, 2011 at 11:56 am
Emilio Bonifacio was NL Player of the Month for July. Uggla will be MVP!
August 4th, 2011 at 2:43 pm
Darn. I was hoping it’d be Uggla, too, so that he and Freddie F. would both be on the same team with Player of the Month statuses (rookie/regular player). I bet that’s rare.
