August 16th, 2011 at 10:10 pm
I know he’s not himself lately but I luuuuuuuuv Martin Prado!
August 16th, 2011 at 10:11 pm
Thanks to Prado. That was BIG
August 16th, 2011 at 10:23 pm
HUUUGE win. It would have been quite a gut punch after Delgado’s stellar outing, Freeman getting picked off, Prado’s shoulda been game winner that Huff caught …
And the Phillies lose, too.

#55 Yeah. That paragraph was all sorts of chilling.

#61, doesn’t DRS require a lot of subjective analysis by some 2000 “scouts” that assess the defensive plays often off of video? Not sure it is scientific or fine tuned yet. Don’t they assess the range, speed of ball, etc. subjectively? Objectivity includes your actual BA, how many times you hit into DPs, etc. We may not have anyone better than Gonzo yet but he would make a great #8 batter.

PRADO!!!!
@75 they were talking about Constanza. And to bring positivity for Alex, he was outstanding defensively again tonight.

@84
And, if Freeman doesn’t get picked off, the whole inning goes differently…
August 16th, 2011 at 10:32 pm
…Freeman looked safe.

On the super-slo-mo replay, it showed that Freeman’s hand was on DeRosa’s foot, and not the bag. Freeman definitely beat the throw, but his hand wasn’t on the bag. Looked like the right call.

#87 every party has a pooper…slo mo’s not my strong suit.
. I guess my selective baseball eyes missed that part.

Who’s getting greedy about the rest of the Giants series? (raises hand)
August 16th, 2011 at 11:04 pm
So who KNEW that Alex Gonzalez would ground into the double play? Right now he is our ONLY hole in the lineup…. at least the pitcher can bunt

#89, I’m right there with you, Steve, especially after Cody Ross’s little performance tonight. Act like you’ve been there, dude, seriously.
August 17th, 2011 at 12:41 am
*act like you’ve been there before, sorry.

Was at the Ted tonight. Smallish crowd. Don’t know what was announced, but it was probably 20k or thereabouts. It was a weird game because it was flying by. We moved twice and somehow found ourselves sitting in front of the most obnoxious SF fans twice. Which clearly these people had never stepped in foot in SF. Which really made them such twice as bad. Fair weather losers. So when Prado won the game I did a rather subdued Hulk Hogan neck crane hand over ear maneuver at them to mock their sudden silence. It was quite satisfying.
Vinnie said it was foul on the replay, but I swear that Bourn hit landed right in front of us and you could see the grass torn up where it had landed and it looked like it hit the line.
Great win, either way. And go to see Brooksy score the winning run against the Giants. He got a big cheer when he came up and even more so when he hit his double.

#93 – There was a replay last night that showed a big divot just to the foul side of the foul line. It was damn close.
#91 – And, making it worse, he HAS been there. Last year, no less.

Front page above-the-fold headline in SF Chronicle: “How much worse can it get for these Giants?”
August 17th, 2011 at 12:13 pm
Aweeee…poor pitiful work champs.
August 17th, 2011 at 12:16 pm
#95 – Love that.
August 17th, 2011 at 12:26 pm
Opinions on the first and third base coaching? I wasn’t there so hard to pick up on what was going on at first yesterday.

I don’t know if everyone has seen this. It’s the eulogy from Ernie Johnson’s funeral that was given by Ernie Johnson Jr. It’s really great. Funny and touching. I think I can speak for all the hosts that no guest has been nicer than Ernie Johnson Jr. He really was beyond reproach.

89 – yeah, me too. I think we’re going to win the series, and not just split it. That said, we’ve got to do better than 2 runs against a team consisting of two or three regulars in there, especially when we’ve got a completely healthy lineup going for us.
