Show #166: The Braves Can’t Hit the Side of a Barn as they Crawl to the Finish Line. WC lead at 1. Post-season hope meter at an all-time low. Medlen the only good sign of the week.
I hope they clean house with this coaching staff. Time to start with some new guys with some new ideas. Being a player’s manager just doesn’t seem to work with this group of players. I feel like we have the second most talented 40 man roster in the NL, yet we haven’t won back to back series since mid-August. Doc is right with post #181, the Braves don’t deserve postseason baseball. Also, out of all the teams in the NL, the Cardinals probably have the best shot at beating the Phillies.
As many have said all year, this is a poorly managed team. Braves didn’t come out of Florida with players coached to bunt, move up runners, manufacture runs or anything else. The fact that they have a lot of “talent” or that famous baseball word, “potential”, doesn’t mean much. They are playing their worst baseball of the year and do not belong in the playoffs. No matter how good your pitching is, you can’t win games without runs.
PS: a lot depended on Prado, Heyward, McCann and the addition of Uggla. Uggla and McCann (Get your vision checked) played half seasons and Heyward and Prado were busy reading how good they were. The foundation of this team is pitching; they need to keep most of it but everyone else is expendable except Freeman. I’ll repeat that the Lowe contract is one of the worst ever given by the Braves (he is a number 4 pitcher making $15mil). The fact that the Braves are even in the running for a WC is a strong argument against expansion of the playoffs which would put even weaker teams in the running.
#182, you are right. Talent wise, second best. Peaking at the right time, they rank last. How many mediocre pitchers have they made look like Sandy Koufax this year?
On the bright side, our website hosting provider, who’s two freaking jobs are to keep the lights on and NOT GET HACKED by some goofball in India is working perfectly. Wait, what?!?!?

Just turned on the Falcons game. Can any Atlanta team play to their potential?

If misery loves company, you’d think the Braves could sell more tickets.
