At the same time, at least the Phillies are also having short at-bats.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Hanson also start the Brooks Conrad walk off grand slam game.
May 3rd, 2012 at 1:55 pm
So have the Braves decided to just lose this game? Seems like our offense doesn’t care.
May 3rd, 2012 at 1:55 pm
Is that 4 innings where he has thrown a single digit pitch count? Plus he has two 10 pitch innings. Blanton just mowing us down.
May 3rd, 2012 at 2:19 pm
That’s one of the saddest games I’ve seen in a while. Nobody even tried.
May 3rd, 2012 at 2:19 pm
Buster Olney just tweeted “Joe Blanton with a huge effort today for the Phillies –first complete game in almost five years, the day after PHI had its guts ripped out.”
The only tweet about last night’s game from him was about Michael Bourne poking Mac in the eye. Just wrong.

Im only watching the games Chipper is in the lineup. Apparently those are the only games we win.
May 3rd, 2012 at 5:07 pm
Agreed, folks. Really depressing outcome today. I mean, how did it look like we were the ones reeling and hungover from last night? Shouldn’t that have been the Phillies?
May 3rd, 2012 at 8:09 pm
It really is amazing how poorly this team plays without Chipper. And I have brought it up everywhere today, but when the Phils have their big three, you have to make your move on the back end of their rotation. The Braves can’t beat ANYONE who starts at 4 & 5 for them. Blanton, Happ, Kendrick, Moyer, Worley. It’s pathetic. And when you play them 19 times a year, those losses rack up. Even more galling is that for the most part, those guys can’t beat anyone other than the Braves.

If you’ve not seen it, this 4 minutes of Mo Rivera’s injuring himself in BP is pretty compelling stuff. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_05_03_nyamlb_kcamlb_1&highlight_content_id=21128441&c_id=mlb

No one hates the Yankees more than I do, but that sucks.
May 4th, 2012 at 8:35 am
86 – Agreed. As much as I hate the Yankees, you want any player to be able to go out on his own terms, especially a homegrown, classy guy.
May 4th, 2012 at 9:22 am
86 Really really sad.
May 4th, 2012 at 11:00 am
#87, good way to sum it up. Ouch.
May 4th, 2012 at 8:13 pm
Rivera said he’s coming back. That incident just reminds me to take in every single Chipper at bat knowing it could be his last.
Nice to see Chipper hitting second tonight.

I think Fredi gives too many off days. Pastornicky is 22 yet we are giving up offense by starting Jack Wilson in Coors Field.
May 4th, 2012 at 10:31 pm
#91 – I get the whole Hudson’s a sinker ball pitcher/needs strong defense behind him thing. But the guy’s hitting .400 since his three days off.
May 4th, 2012 at 10:55 pm
91 and 92 — I think it’s okay. Fredi probably figured that the other 7 guys would provide enough offense at Coors Field, and I’d say that he figured right on that one. Besides, Pastornicky can come off the bench late in the game.
May 4th, 2012 at 11:12 pm
The most logical question here is why didn’t someone pinch hit for Hudson if you’re bringing in Medlen? Right?
May 4th, 2012 at 11:14 pm
94 — yup
May 4th, 2012 at 11:22 pm
#94 And why the heck are you playing small ball in Coors Field in the first place, especially when our pitchers still have to get 9 outs? Fredi is beyond bad. If he can’t make the playoffs with this team he has to go.
May 4th, 2012 at 11:27 pm
@96
I agree and Wren probably does too. Either the Braves make the playoffs or he’s the Houston Astros 3rd base coach next year.
May 4th, 2012 at 11:31 pm
Re the non-pinch hitting, DOB positing that Prado is sicker than originally thought. I mean, you’ve still got Francisco and the Rev.
May 4th, 2012 at 11:33 pm
I love Freddie but I don’t understand how anyone could be that slow.
May 4th, 2012 at 11:44 pm
It’s a good thing we threw away yesterday’s game so that we could win 3 games in Colorado.
