Minor says, “auto umps, please”

To a certain someone who said no way when I suggested Delgado might outpitch Dempster the rest of this season, someone whose name ryhmes with sleeve, the Dempster has started out with a bang in Texas. 7 runs in 4 innings, giving back a big early lead Texas staked him to.
That’s an ERA of 15.75 for those scoring at home.

Interesting to notice how the Braves have fared against pitchers they have never seen this year. Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems like we have done a much better job of that. We still have the terrible pitchers who own us, but not so much the rookies notching their first wins against us.

It’s too bad we didn’t sweep them, but a great series. Outscored the Fish 23-8, pitched well, hit well, and played good defense.
Going into the series, we were 4 games back of Washington and 2 games up on the Wild Card field.
Coming out of the series, we’re 2.5 games back of Washington and 3.5 games up on the Wild Card field. That’s taking care of business. Proud of the boys.

129 — we faced Eovaldi last year, if that’s whom you were referring to. But yes — the Braves are doing a better job against pitchers we haven’t faced before.
Interesting matchups this weekends. Hudson vs. Armando Galaragga (when did he wind up in Houston??) tonight. Maholm’s first start against Harrell, who is having a good second half so far, tomorrow. And Medlen vs. Norris, a high-ERA but high K pitcher. Really hope we sweep.

I know that this is the major leagues and anybody can win at any given time but isn’t this an automatic sweep? I mean no excuse to not at least win the series.

Quick Walker…recant! Talk about how we will play poorly against a bad team and probably lose 2 of 3. Then drink beet juice laced with butterfly wings.

136 – Cool article, although I gotta say that that guy seems to be overestimating our pitching a bit. He cites Hudson and Hanson’s combined 22-9 record, but they (Hanson mostly) haven’t been as good as that record may indicate; our bullpen has been shaky at times; and Fredi’s bullpen management, while better than last year, is still questionable. To give Venters any credit for this season’s success – which this writer does – is a bit embarrassing.
I hate to be cynical, but I wonder how closely that guy covers the Braves.

He’s a national writer so not much so the details were off. But the overall message was true.

Should’a got Huddy in the first, Houston. Yonder comes the pain.

Good at-bat, Marteeeen.

Out of curiosity, I visited an Astros blog. It was one guy posting to himself. And not about the Astros.
August 3rd, 2012 at 8:01 pm

August 3rd, 2012 at 8:06 pm
Sigh, where did the pain go?
