The good news is that unlike last year, the Cardinals suck just as much as we do. So we still have a comfortable lead heading into the unpredictable one game playoff.
The bad news. Those damn Phillies are still in this.

Please Cardinals don’t let the Phillies catch you.
Cole Hamels in a one game playoff. Ahhhhh

#55 is great.

@54 – Yes. Last night was great to have a no-loss guarantee. What a torturous run this team puts us through at time.
To brazenly show my confidence in the team, I bought tix for the one-game WC playoff last night. This one move is going to deliver the 2 of 3 for the Braves this weekend.

This is hilarious and sad. Poor Mets.

@58
I heard that the only team in the NL East w/o a winning record at Citi Field is the Mets…
September 14th, 2012 at 8:38 pm
Hey Curt, what do you think we can get for Medlen?
September 14th, 2012 at 9:17 pm
Babe Ruth?
September 14th, 2012 at 10:09 pm
It’s a shame Meds can’t get the win for this one. He went bananas on the Nationals lineup.
September 14th, 2012 at 10:10 pm
@61
NICE!
September 14th, 2012 at 10:10 pm
So who was Craig pissed at? Ten pitches, ten strikes, three strikeouts… WOW!
September 14th, 2012 at 10:20 pm
And Medlen’s streak continues!
September 14th, 2012 at 10:23 pm
It wasn’t pretty, but I’ll take it.
September 14th, 2012 at 10:30 pm
That was a double play ball, wow! Needed win, but again zero clutch hitting.
September 14th, 2012 at 10:49 pm
So, you think maybe Pastor can play second, slot Prado into third and trade Uggla in the off-season?
September 14th, 2012 at 11:02 pm
@67
Sorry, have to disagree on being a double-play ball… he had to come in too far to get it… would have had to throw behind himself w/o enough time to double up Pastor… if nothing else, the kid isn’t exactly slow…
Putting the ball in play puts pressure on the defense and they didn’t make the play… beats a pop-up… a strikeout… FC to pitcher, first or third…
September 14th, 2012 at 11:50 pm
I pulled up the box score and was like YEAH, WALK OFF HIT!
Not so much. I’ll take it of course, but sheesh. Looks like Medlen did great again. That story is just ridiculous. I beat the start-Meds drum as hard as anyone, but I never figured he’d dominate.
September 15th, 2012 at 9:37 am
@69 – I agree, they wouldn’t have pulled off the dp. Gotta catch the ball, apply the tag and then turn your body the other direction to throw to first.
I’m not saying it was some great, clutch hit, but every win is nothing short of huge at this point.
September 15th, 2012 at 9:41 am
Unfortunately, I have zero faith that the winning continues today. Despite the fact that it’s the only righty we face, I can’t believe Hanson doesn’t get lit up by the Nats lineup. They’re just too good and he’s just too mediocre.

In other news:
A big congratulations to our blogger Shaun who just welcomed a new baby boy into the family!
September 15th, 2012 at 9:52 am
So, through a family connection I will be serving as the on field stage manager for today’s game on big Fox. I’ll share details on the show tomorrow night but, for the most part, I know that I signal the umpire that he can say, “play ball” at the start of the game and then position myself in the camera well at the end of the Braves dugout and report news to the production truck throughout the game. Stuff like, “they’re calling to the bullpen,” or “Overbay is picking up a bat to pinch hit.” Stuff like that. Pretty damned excited. Tweeting and posting during the game is probably frowned upon so I’ll have a full report tomorrow.

Steve! That is freakin awesome! It’s too bad we’re gonna lose so bad you won’t be able to pick your head up off the ground. Still, seriously cool!
