#43 was awesome! Great read. Thanks for sharing, Bub.

Its crazy that with those numbers in that article, people constantly ask whether Chipper is a first ballot Hall of Famer. Why is there even a question? I don’t hear these questions about Jeter. Yes, both are first ballot Hall of Famers but I have a secret for baseball folks. Chipper Jones is far and away and has always has been a better baseball player than Derek Jeter. It’s not even close. But I guess that’s blasphemous.

He is but Jeter plays in NY and has 4 rings.

I would never claim to be overly religious, but this is a really fascinating story.

@38, 50: Leah and David – how about meeting up at 6:30pm in front of the entrance to the Taco Mac Family Fun Zone (the kids play area in the fan plaza)?
I’ll be wearing a dark shirt with the Braves Twitter handle on it: @braves, and an old school (70′s era) Braves cap.

@55 and the goofiest grin you have ever seen.
September 28th, 2012 at 3:07 pm
@55 sounds good!

I know it’s all about Chipper right now, but watch this Huddy video immediately. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=AHhfQ757W9c&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DAHhfQ757W9c%26feature%3Dyoutu.be

And now back to the Chipper show. Check out this fantastic photo collection of Chipper from SI. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/1204/chipper.jones.rare.photos/content.1.html

Leah and David. Sorry to miss you. Had to head to our seats.
September 28th, 2012 at 7:13 pm
Dammit…wasn’t going to cry.
September 28th, 2012 at 7:16 pm
Um… Per comment 37 I thought you were referring to the Oct 5th one game playoff. I’m in North GA half lit on red wine. Sorry for confusion. See ya next week? Or not?
September 28th, 2012 at 7:20 pm
Those turtle necks look stupid.
September 28th, 2012 at 7:33 pm
Aw…Chipper loves me.
September 28th, 2012 at 8:45 pm
Michael Jordan needs eye drops as badly as Chipper needs crest whitening strips.
September 28th, 2012 at 11:12 pm
we losed? wuh happun?
September 28th, 2012 at 11:14 pm
Hey Leah. I will be there on the 5th, too. Once we know the time, we’ll see if we can meet up.
The Chipper ceremony was fantastic. And mostly because of Chipper’s speech. So appreciative of his team and the fans. Great, great, great.
And then there was the game. What a crap game. And while the moves worked out, I don’t get Fredi going with Martinez and Gearrin in a 2 run game when the Nats are getting killed. Very frustrating all around.

How about giving Duda the platoon advantage on Hudson. After Hudson stuck out Hairston then it was time to bring in a lefty.
September 28th, 2012 at 11:23 pm
@ 65
Everybody knows yellow teeth are one of Chipper’s trademarks. All joking aside, what a great night. What a legend.
September 29th, 2012 at 8:21 am
Yeah, I didn’t get to see one pitch, but why on earth was Hudson in there in the 7th to give up a 3 run homer to a lefty? Big miss there by the Braves
September 29th, 2012 at 11:34 am
Steve — I’m really sorry about not meeting up last night, and about not even replying to your post! I live in Columbia, SC, so yesterday morning was spent packing stuff up for the weekend trip, then traveling, then trying to get to the game on time, etc. In the midst of everything, I wasn’t able to get on the board and see if there would be a meeting, so I missed #55 until seeing it this morning.
Really sorry! Hope you had a great time, despite the loss.
By the way, did anybody else find it a bit ironic that, during the players’ memories that they showed on the big screen, they had Teixeira’s goodbye come immediately after Hudson’s? Given the history between Hudson and Tex and the whole “still a douche” thing? I thought that was great. AND I loved how everybody booed Tex.
September 29th, 2012 at 9:26 pm
@71 – David, no worries. At all.
And yes, the Tex moment was great. All those between innings videos were superb.

I’m hoping the Nats win tonight and get this over with. Lets rest up in Pittsburgh for that one game playoff.
September 30th, 2012 at 4:43 pm
Nothing better than that camera shot of Chipper walking down tunnel into the clubhouse and all you see is the back of his jersey with his Jones and #10. Legend
September 30th, 2012 at 7:57 pm
#73 I concur. Also great hearing the “Chipper” chants throughout the bottom of the 9th. I can’t even talk about his Mama.
