David @74, I’m fine with a pitcher being recognized for 20 wins in a season or 300 wins in a career, etc. The bigger issue is Cy Young voting or folks with a voice like Harold Reynolds possibly overlooking great pitchers because they didn’t rack up enough individual wins.
Basically if we take this to the absurd conclusion Harold Reynolds is okay with a pitcher being selfish and looking out for his win rather than actually trying to pitch well.
The irony is that Reynolds is more tied to a stat (pitcher win), whereas the “stathead” Brian Kenny wants to go on performance and only wants to use stats that help measure and indicate how well a pitcher performed.
Either way, the Braves just got Wandied.
And how about Holbrook? If an umpire makes an honest mistake, fine. But shooing away a player should equal a suspension. Umpires should be held to higher standards than players.
James McDonald pumping his fist and shouting as he walks off the mound after striking out the side in the first inning? I mean, I know that he’s been terrible this season, but that’s just premature and showing up your opponent. I hope we absolutely tattoo this guy tonight.
