Well I have a problem with Fredi leaving him in for the 8th…
After keeping most everything down and locating pitches well for 6 innings, Medlen was up with everything in the 7th. The Phils were hitting the ball HARD in at bat after at bat, the ones that didn’t put the runner in scoring position and didn’t drive him in were still hit HARD, but caught…
The trend of “missing his spots up” continued in the 8th.
Since Medlen was due to lead off in the bottom of the 7th, Fredi should have used the opportunity to let a bench player get a pinch hit appearance and moved the game to the bullpen.
I’m tired of the deal with Atlanta and Harper. The guy isn’t that bad of a personality, and he’s a good ballplayer. I don’t think the Braves are doing anything really nasty, but I’m getting kind of uncomfortable with the situation and hope it ends soon and with the rivalry being strong, but not bitter. Just one man’s opinion. I confess that I like the Nats, and I think their success would be good for baseball. By success, I mean Wild Card years, of course.
Now, if it were Werth we were hitting …
Hey, looks like my one Turner Field loss was Charlie’s 1000th win, and his last win as the Phils’ skipper. That’s … well … something?
Come ON Bub. Did you see his homer in National’s Park? Did you hear his complete confidence in the Braves impending collapse? Maybe those weren’t his exact words but…dude’s a punk and he called Teheran a very bad name. having said that I don’t want anyone to get hurt.
@66 looks like it’ll be a wet one. Taking my poncho and assuming I won’t get to see the 9th.
Who do you think gets plunked today? Seems like JUP is the obvious choice (he of the admiring HRs and the game winner last night). But Freddie is kind of the face of the franchise and there’s his whole hugs things, too.
Last night was a spectacular win. Once the 2nd plunking resulted in the tying run, it seemed all was aligned for a loss yet they still pulled it out. The turnaround this season has taken is something really special.
I’m with Leah. I’m sure it would be different if he was one of ours, but I think Harper is a DB (no offense to other DBs). If that makes me a small person, then so be it. I think one more plunk would be sort of funny, but not if it gets in the way of our ultimate goal – humiliating the Cardinals.
I don’t think it makes you small, I think most would agree that he seems like a DB. I think he is good for baseball, but I would like to see his face if he got plunked with a couple more slow curves tonight.
