    Good stuff so far:

    161-1 still a possibility…

    Haven’t lost a series yet…

    Winning record on the road…

    Go Braves!

If anyone has doubts that Heyward will probably be a Yankee, Red Sox or Dodger after two more seasons:

Of players 25 and under, since the start of the 2010 season, Heyward has the second-most career WAR, per Fangraphs. Only Trout has more WAR over that span, among players 25 and under. Justin Upton is 4th. Freeman is 17th.

Since the beginning of 2012 (Harper’s first season and Trout’s first full season), Trout ranks first, Heyward second, Goldschmidt third, Harper fourth. Freeman is 7th. Justin Upton is 10th.

And this is just crazy: Since the start of 2012 Trout has 20.8 WAR. Heyward is second among players 25 and under with 9.9 WAR.

Oh, I should say, this is of course position players. I didn’t look at pitchers.

The Angels would be 21 games worse without Trout!?!

    Shaun Says:

Danny, if they replaced Trout with a replacement-level player (a readily available player, something like a Triple-A journeyman centerfielder or a 24th or 25th man on a roster) the idea is they would be approximately 21 games worse.

I would have never thought that Heyward leaving the Braves was a possibilty in 2010.

Jason Isbell’s new nickname for Kimbrel – “The Redneck Rivera” – is pure gold. Love it.

Gotta love this game from Uggla and BJ and Teheran… mentally has to help all of them…and against their best pitcher…at Washington.

@32 – And don’t forget Justin in that group, too. His start has been ugly and only overshadowed by his brother.

And the flip side of the “mental game” coin is Strasburg. Who really melted down after the Zimmerman error. This is just one more piece of evidence that we have his number.

Anybody thinking that Harper may have pulled a “Francoeur” (i.e. new bulk has messed up his bat speed and thus his timing)?

    Steve Says:

@34 – It’s a real possibility. I don’t know how as a ballplayer it wouldn’t be a concern in the back of your mind as you’re bulking up. And then to start getting poor results it would only creep in more.
