    Hey Guys,

I almost made mistake of saying Happy Memorial Day, but have a good, reflective, nostalgic Memorial Day. Good Show. With this road trip, (I certainly hope I’m wrong) but Cahill and Stultz might be useful in long relief, if our pitchers stub their toe. I was curious to hear what y’all thought about Teheran’s drop in velocity. He pitched real well, which you can do at that velocity, but not much room for error. I never have considered him a “control” pitcher, so the drop in velocity has me a little concerned about his effectiveness and consistency going forward. I’m hoping it’s not another case of Tommy Hanson/Jair Jurrjens. Banuelos and Jenkins looking real good down in the minors; Wisler pretty good too, except rough last outing. Mallex Smith is RAKING at AA, and Peraza is doing his thing.

Stephen Vogt, the A’s catcher is hitting .306 with 10 homers and 33 rbi’s. The A’s also happen to be the worst team in baseball. If Bethancourt continues to struggle I would like to make a move for Vogt possibly before the trade deadline if the Braves Are somehow in the playoff hunt. He only has one more year on his contract so it would be a rent.

Enjoyed the show guys. Only point of disagreement would be how Gattis is playing for Houston. Seems to be All-Star caliber through the first quarter. But you’re right, the rest of the trades have worked out better for Braves.

George – good point on the drop in velocity for Julio. It’s concerning – if he doesn’t adapt (like both Hanson and JJ).

Ryan – Gattis an All Star?!?! I mean the 9 HRs are nice, but his slash line is .201 .233 .435. According to Baseball Reference his WAR is -0.2 and according to Fangraphs its -0.4. I don’t think he’s getting much All Star consideration.

Nice shout out to Hart, I totally agree that his choices of coaches, scouts and players have been a silver lining. If this is a rebuilding season and we get a wild card spot imagine the strength of this club for years to come. Also, Jace Peterson is awfully polarizing for a rookie! Did you all see the excitement he had running down first base!? Such a great pick, I hope he is here for the years to come.

    Steve Says:

These first two LA games have been grim. To give one away on Monday and then have Julio be soooooo hitable last night. Pretty depressing.

    Shaun Says:

If the team can make it through July 2nd still hanging in the playoff race, they’ll be in good shape. The schedule doesn’t let up much from now until July 3rd, when the Phillies come to town.

  9. 9
    Steve Says:

I feel strangely optimistic about the SF series (he said, totally jinxing it).

    Curt Says:

Welcome to the big boy portion of the schedule.
