Freeman’s injury came at the worst possible time. The Braves could very well be in first place by the end of the week if he was healthy. You can’t expect this team to go 3-0 in another series without him.

Also, does Jace Peterson have any experience at third base? With Maxell Smith and Jose Peraza both slated to be here at the latest in 2017 I’d love to see him at 3, Peraza at 2 and Smith in center

It will be a very interesting off-season to see what they do with Petersen and Peraza. Peraza was the 2nd basemen of the future just a few short months ago, but do you really move Petersen? He and Simba have developed a very nice rhythm in a short amount of time.

And Mallex Smith is hitting the ball very well. But if the Braves decide to keep Maybin and not trade him (which seems more likely to me everyday) then do you move Smith to left? Not a bad option, but it would also be great to spend some money on a big time bat in left for next year.

These guys could become parts of trades. Scenarios that would have seemed impossible a few months ago.

    Have we forgotten about Toscano?

Should we expect Toscano in September or do you think next year?

And regarding Maybin, I’m afraid he may become the next Chris Johnson I we re-up with him. Should/Will the Braves make a push for Mike Trout?

    Chris Says:

@Tyler- Maybin is already under club control through 2016 with a buyout of 1.5 million on 2017. Seems like a steal and Atlanta will trade him before then. As for Trout… No way they will pay that price! We will not spend until next season and even then we will not take rentals. Remember it’s all about smart spending and future purchases.

As for Toscano, I haven’t seen anything on this guy since he got here. I am anxious to see this guy!

I’ve read that it’s essentially a lost year for Toscano with all the delays.

And no way on Trout. Just can’t see it. The new stadium would need to generate about 350 more corporate sponsorships for that kind of money.

Re Maybin – the difference between him and Johnson is this is the player everyone thought he’d be. And I’m willing to believe that injuries and coaches that didn’t get through to him are a big explanation as to why he never flourished. Johnson was never great and his 2013 should have always been viewed with skepticism.

I don’t think the Braves should or will go after Trout either. With Bryant and Joc Peterson and Correa out in Houston and the way Harper has emerged in not sure how much longer Trout will be considered the best player in baseball.
