Show #306: A Painful End to the First Half

The Grilli injury. Folty to the pen. Where do the Braves go in the second half? MVP. LVP.

Chipper was in the home run derby 3 times ’97, ’98 and 2000. He combined to hit 6 total home runs so obviously easy to forget.

Yeah, why do you guys do a show? Genuinely funny moment.

Also, not only was Chipper in three Home Run Derbys, but the 2000 Derby was at the Ted. I still have that jersey in my wardrobe, although not at prices that were being charged that week (around $180 IIRC).

I’ve been reading several blogs for the Braves this week and a lot of people want to bring Justin Upton back next year. Thoughts? Personally I’d love to get Cespedes.

Justin is not coming back next year, nor would I want him. He’s not the guy to spend that much money on (for a mid-tier team like the Braves) and try to build your offense around. Too hot and cold at the plate and really an average defender at this point as well.

Sure – but the price and years need to be right. He’s about to finish up a 4yr/$36M contract and be 30 at the start of the ’16 season. I wouldn’t want to go more than 4/48, but I think he’ll get more than that.
