Rough starts from the young trio. Jace Peterson in 2016? Mike Minor in 2016? Olivera hype begins.

I just want to say that I can’t wait to welcome Brian McCann back to Atlanta on Friday. If anyone deserves a long standing ovation on their return it’s Brian McCann. Arguably the best catcher in all of baseball when he was here.

Now in regards to the podcast:
    1. If Peterson’s struggles are because of fatigue like Joe said on the broadcast today then I’d be fine with him one more year. I’d like to go after Brett Lawrie to play second in 2017.
    2. I could go either way on Minor. I’d say give him a try then DFA him.
    3. I’m excited about Olivera, although I’m not expecting much until next year.

Folty, Perez are decoys and Wisler is a coin toss. Add in no big bat anywhere in the system and you have a tough row to hoe until 2018 never mind 2017.

Dont fall in love with power arms who are one dimensional like Folty again decoys that make you suffer. Folty will be traded or put in the pen in 2016.

I believe that the big bat(s) will come via trades of all the pitching pieces. You may not agree with the approach, but surely that’s the plan. And I don’t think any of the pieces (Folty included) are untouchable.

I was looking at all of the outfielders stats on ESPN and there isn’t a guy who isn’t a) the face of the franchise or b) is not a free agent that I would want to give up a couple prospects for. Justin Upton is the best available outfielder who is a free agent. We don’t want him back. Cespedes is intriguing as is Alex Gordon. I’d be happier trading for a guy like Kyle Seager to play third and move Olivera to the outfield. Ben Zobrist is also an intriguing option in that he can play anywhere and is another guy I would want to mentor the younger guys in the clubhouse.

This is also the first time Freeman has ever had any lingering injury problems. When he’s healthy he’s right on par with Rizzo.

I guess no new podcast because there has been no significant baseball played by the braves lately. That’s fair. Meanwhile, farewell and good luck Johnny Gomes!
