Show 404: Folty and Newk Dominate the Nats
The future is now with Folty and Newk. Snit’s bullpen management. Early trade deadline thoughts. Freddie’s hit streak. Dansby’s up and down return. Lineup what if’s.

moustakas and camargo are not drastically different players. i think they are.
camargo is better defensively, get on base better. moose is more of a slugger with a more proven track record.
camargo is playing great and moose may not be enough of an upgrade to make it worth the move, but that doesn’t mean they are similar players.

i think when you have a shot to win it all, you should go for it, within reason. they should definitely add. in my opinion the priority is #1 bullpen, #2 3rd base, #3 rotation.
i dont think it would be a bad idea at all to be able to lengthen the linuep with a serious offensive threat. moustakas or machado.

GREAT first day of the draft for the Braves. The outfielder we got should jump Pache in the prospect rankings.

Tyler, Jenista is going to hop over Pache? I had not heard that. What makes you say that?

I think the Braves are sitting on too much of a glut of minor league talent not to make some kind of deal if only to clear out some space and blockages for the future. Let’s say for the sake of specifics, Miami would be open to trading Realmuto. Other names and positions will surely surface as well.
What’s the criteria for a deal? Mine would be:
a) What position(s) need an upgrade and how much that upgrade would impact the upward movement of the team? Highly subjective as to answering the first part.
b) The cost of the upgrade?
c) The risk/reward analysis of making any/all moves.
This could all be rendered moot if the Braves stumble over the next 6 weeks or so. If they’re still contending, then, again, I see the likelihood of some action.

@ DAP I don’t think Janista is a better player, but at this point, I think Janista is more major league ready. He’s got a 55 grade hit and 65 grade power, which far exceeds Pache in those areas. I think Pache, given his elite defense, sets him apart. But for right now I’ll take Janista.

If I were to guess Janista’s tools ratings:
Hit – 50 Power – 60 Run – 55 Arm – 50 Field – 50 Overall – 50.
That would put him in the 9-14 range. Probably 12, if I’d guess. Stewart should be top 5.

Pache has the higher upside and the higher floor than Jenista. Sure, there’s a scenario where Pache is a glove-only, speedy centerfielder and Jenista reaches his ceiling but based on a range of most likely outcomes (insofar as anything is likely with prospects), I’ll take Pache over Jenista. Hopefully they both reach their ceilings regardless and we don’t care.
