300!!!!!
November 14th, 2009 at 12:00 am
3 of ESPN’s top 5 college football headlines deal with robbery or murder. Oy.
November 14th, 2009 at 12:01 am
Sorry, Ms. Leah.
November 14th, 2009 at 12:01 am
Bub…I’m glad your very truthful statement was #300 even though you stole my thunder. It’s all the scrolling…stupid iPhone.

I know…it is a damn good album. Like I said it’s their best but they have some other great songs on other albums. Especially if you like “New Grass”.
November 14th, 2009 at 12:34 am
I have kind of a knee jerk reaction to New Grass. I mean, the OLD “new grass” I like a lot: Tony Rice, John Hartford, Sam Bush et al. When it was basically just Old Blue Grass + Marijuana + Bob Dylan. But some of the birdie-finger-to-tradition that flows through some of the new “new grass”… hell, I dunno. It’s a weird vibe. I guess a case-by-case basis is the best ticket.
If I like the other Avett Bros, it will be for their lyricism, which is king for me, and which transcends whatever considerations about style, shtick, & so forth. Right now I’ve got my hands full just reacting to this album. In a good way – a great way,.
(Ironic that I will have to adjust the old Avett Brothers’ looseness to my love of this album’s tight balladry, when for the rest of their fans – according to the reactions I’m finding on the net – are having to do just the opposite.)
Alright, my finger numbness tells me it’s time to hit the sleep button on my stereo and drift this fine day into the aether.

Don’t hate me Bub but I must share The Rev’s very funny tweet from yesterday.
3 Vols arrested today for attempted robbery. Bet they wish they’d gone to Bama where ftbl players are given cash all the time! WDE!

That was me…I’ll be honest…forgot for a minute I was on Mom’s computer.

Tcc, I see your Tigers are doubling up NCSU.
November 14th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
… slash/ tripling up…
November 14th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Tell the rev. that I met Chris Porter and that ginormous tall guy he played with (with the impossible name) while I was at Auburn, and Tuscaloosa isn’t the only semi-pro college ball in this state.

… slash/ doubling up…

Will do Bub. Heard on my rental car’s satellite radio that if the Braves have any sense they would make a move on Lance Berkman soon (seems like Curt has been singing that tune for a month of Sundays). And if the Astros had any sense they would trade him and start all over. He also said Milton Bradley’s a catch and the Braves should pick him up as well. Just kidding about Bradley. He said dude’s a ticking timebomb. Ahem. *clears throat sheepishly*
November 14th, 2009 at 4:39 pm
Berkman was pretty awful against LHP last year. OBP of .293, batting average of .231 as a RH batter, ouchy. Pretty bad considering our RH deficit. That’s a lot of money to still not have a right handed power bat.
November 14th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
Or, put another way, Berky’s averaged about 4 dingers a year as a right handed batter.
November 14th, 2009 at 4:47 pm
Wow, even the year he hit 42 homers, 2 of them were as a right handed batter.
Yes, bub is very proud he found a page of stats.
November 14th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
So is he able to put the ball in play at all batting RH? It’s not ALL about the homeruns and, for the record, I would take the 42 homeruns however they came. Just curious…who do you want Bub. Dan Uggla is out of the picture remember.
November 14th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
Well, his OBP and average are pretty rough right handed.
I don’t have any solution better than: trade Lowe for anything (dump), keep Javy, sign LaRoche, sign a premium bp arm, and play ball. But I’m sure Wren can do better.
McLouth
Prado
Chipper
LaRoche
McCann
Escobar
Heyward
Diaz
Best rotation in BB.
November 14th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
.231…ok…not great but whose better?
I’m very upset right now. I have walked through two concourses in the ATL airport twice over the last few days and have not seen one tiny tomahawk. Not one teetiny A. I am painfully aware of the fact that baseball season is over but really? What…is wrong…with this city?!?!?!?
November 14th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Heyward isn’t ready yet. I’m just saying I’m nervous Wren will wait too long for something that doesn’t exist.
“The more I have the more I think I’m almost where I need to be. If only I could get a little more.”
have you learned nothing from The Brothers?
November 14th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Who’s better than .231?
Uh…
I dunno. How about this, then: Keep Lowe. Trade Vazquez for a something good that the Padres want. Package the Javy return with Schafer and Medlen and get Adrian Gonzalez.
November 14th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Padres would want Freeman for 1b. I’m not thinking straight. Too close to Bama’s kickoff.
November 14th, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Florida Gators looking very stoppable right now. Texas, not so much.
