Podcast every 300 comments, news or no news. C’mon, Stevie, make it happen.
Some Questions to Weigh In On:
1. Will Javy Vazquez pitch for the Braves in 2010?
2. Will Lowe?
3. Will Kawakami?
4. Will Gonzo?
5. Will Soriano?
6. How many 2009 homeruns will our biggest new bat have hit? (20-25, 26-30, 31-35, or 36-40)
7. When, if at all, will Heyward join the big club?
8. Will Kelly be here?
9. Name three trade baits, if the haul is right (Schafer, Medlen, Freeman?)
10. Will LaRoche be signed?
Get your offseason predictions recorded now. We’ve already missed one major chance to predict (Hudson).

#7 = when in 2010 will Heyward join the club, if at all, of course.

I like it Bub! I also say show #100 should be special and awesome! Come on boys…you guys don’t have lives outside ABT! And… we (when I say we I mean you) should have ABT t-shirts made so we can advertise. I’d buy one…whose with me! Of course then I will have to watch my language in case a little old church lady desides to join.

CURTIS!!!!!! For shame! I wish I knew Hank but no such luck. I do know a guy named Bub whose hilarious and knows a ton about baseball. Or Will or Tcc (but only if he reveals what Tcc means). Maybe not the 100th episode worthy but it would be a fun interview none the less. I’m great at knowing what I want to happen but no specific ideas how to make it happen.

we have talked a lot about merchandise. Steve was supposed to be in charge of that as he has all the materials. I’m just saying.

I’m so sick about the Yankees victory last night. I just knew, deep down, that money-grubbing evil would not prevail and the Yankees would not take it all. And now that Hal has learned the worst lesson possible, I’m just bracing myself for the signing announcements of Holliday and Lackey. Ugh.
Leah – I too want to do something special for the 100th show. Any suggestions? Seriously, what do you have in mind? Anyone on the message board have a close relationship with Hank Aaron? And yes, the shirts/hats/mugs are in the works. I was going to take care of it earlier, but Curt stopped me. It’s totally his fault. I can’t say anymore because of my sense of decorum.

I’m pushing for Biff Pocaroba or Corky.
November 2nd, 2009 at 5:27 pm
Stevie, haven’t you learned by now that I come up with the problems and you guys find all the solutions? I’ll think on it but I make no promises. I love the idea of a t-shirt, cap (trucker type preferably) and mug!

Will, my esteem for you just tripled!

I recommend Halloween in New York City to all. Especially the subways. No baseball costumes to be seen…but I suppose all the fans were actually watching a game. Does this make A-Rod “Mr. November?”
November 2nd, 2009 at 8:43 pm
Cool Anne. The only time I was in NYC I was 6 months pregnant and sick the whole time. I think it was the smells and the subway.
What’s Jason Werth’s story? I’d like to see him in a Braves uniform. A girl can dream can’t she?

Something weird happened. I wrote #130 after #133. How the heck! Maybe I went all Hiro and travelled into the future to see Steve’s comment about our not having t-shirts being all Curtis’ fault.

Bub..where the heck did you find the MH-GG duet? Are you a Classic Country fan or did you just do a youtube search? Just curious!
November 2nd, 2009 at 10:17 pm
Tcc, I am a classic country fan, but I haven’t thought about that song since I was a kid. But when I clicked onto ABT and saw there was still “no show,” it made me think of it. So I stuck it in Youtube’s search engine.
That one and “Yesterday’s Wine” were standards in my mom’s station wagon when I was in about the 6th grade.
My cd collection is 90% rock and roll, but I have “essentials” collections for Willie, Waylon, Merle, Tammy, Loretta, etc. Some trivia: a friend of mine told me not long ago that Ray Charles once emphatically pronounced, “George Jones has got soul!” I thought it was an interesting (and true) comment.
Yourself?
November 2nd, 2009 at 10:41 pm
I’m so glad the Phillies are making a series out of it. However, the later I stay up watching baseball the more of my kid’s Halloween candy I consume.
November 2nd, 2009 at 10:45 pm
Hershey’s nuggets with the toffee and almonds are all I need for happiness.
November 2nd, 2009 at 10:46 pm
Ray Charles was right. I was a R&R guy, drifting towards acoustic stuff when the Rock/Country crossover stuff started happening. “Sweetheart of the Rodeo” “Nashville Skyline Rag” “Flying Burritos Brothers”
November 2nd, 2009 at 10:52 pm
Exsqueeze me? “Flying Burritos Brothers”? And I opened my mouth making the Baseball gods mad. Not as mad as Victorino is right now.
November 2nd, 2009 at 11:03 pm
Tcc, it all sounds like cool stuff I should know about it. But those are all unfamiliar to me. Maybe I’ll click around some tomorrow.
G’night ABT. Go Phillies.

From Bowman: There has also been a recent buzz that the Braves may attempt to trade for Pirates closer Matt Capps, who made $2.3 million this past season and has two remaining arbitration-eligible seasons.
Some stats on Capps: 27 saves, 5 blown saves, 5.80 ERA, 10HRs allowed

To do what?
November 3rd, 2009 at 1:43 pm
To be our closer, assuming we lose both Soriano and Gonzo to FA.
