    Leah Says:

5.80 era? Is it just me or is that not awesome…you know…for a closer? Or a pitcher.

  2. 152
    Steve Says:

I have to agree. It’s not really awesome for any pitcher in any pitching role.

  3. 153
    Curt Says:

Why not just bring back Bob Wickman or freaking Chris Reitsma?

We have to shoot higher than that if we are serious about filling that role. How about a package for Heath Bell or Francisco Cordero? Even Trevor Hoffman had 37 saves and a 1.83 ERA. Can we go get him?

    Billy Wagner. Now.

  4. 154
    Leah Says:

    D. Lowe for Billy. Done. I’m brilliant!

  5. 155
    Curt Says:

Turns out Wagner is a type A free agent so if we sign him straight up we owe the Sox a 1st round draft pick. That ain’t happening.

    Leah Says:

What does your hope meter say about the possibility of a game 7?

  7. 157
    Steve Says:

Leah – my hope meter is a solid 6 for a game 7. I hope (and trust) that it’s firmly kitchen sink time regarding pitchers and that Charlie will throw anyone and everyone out there if the pitchers start struggling. I also hope that Lidge sees zero action.

The rumors keep flying about Lowe to the Cubs for Milton Bradley. Does Bobby have one last turn around a bad seed miracle in him?

  8. 158
    Leah Says:

Ooooo…I like it! Bobby’s nickname would be to easy…and not really a nickname. I think the Phillies win tonight but not tomorrow night.

    Please, no.

More on the boardgame king (I stole this. Hope it’s accurate. It sounds accurate.)

    2004
Dugout confrontation with Indians manager Eric Wedge in spring training before getting traded to the Dodgers.

    2004
Slammed a plastic bottle at the feet of a fan in the right-field seats at Dodger Stadium after someone threw it onto the field. Bradley drew a five-game suspension. Also received four-game suspension for tossing a bag of balls onto the field after an ejection.

    2005
Feuded with infielder Jeff Kent, accusing him of being a racist, and prompted Dodgers to trade him that winter.

    2007
Bitter public disagreement with A’s general manager Billy Beane. After trade to Padres and in thick of pennant race, tore ACL in his right knee when he was spun to the ground by Padres manager Bud Black, who was trying to keep him from umpire Mike Winters. Bradley claimed he had been baited by Winters, who was suspended for the final five days of the regular season.

    2008
According to Dallas Morning News, Bradley attempted to confront Royals television announcer Ryan Lefebvre in the press box after a game due to what he believed were unfair comments made on the air. Texas manager Ron Washington and GM Jon Daniels chased after him and stopped Bradley before he got to Lefebvre.

    Bubdylan Says:

    Wait, what’s Milton’s contract like?

  12. 162
    Leah Says:

“stable, healthy, enjoyable environment,” That screams Bobby Cox. And Bub…D.Lowe would be GONE! Switch hitter, 100 plus homers. I just remember being very afraid when he stepped up to the plate. I like it. I may eat my words later but I like it right now when he could come cheap. Plus maybe it will relieve Yunel from the pressure of being the least mature player in the clubhouse. That’s gotta be a lot of work and dude’s probably tired.

  13. 163
    Bubdylan Says:

    2009: $5 million, 2010: $9 million, 2011: $12 million

That’s his contract, according to thefirstplaceilooked.com

That’s awful considering the baggage. Plus even his production was butt last year. I’d rather take my chances that Lowe will bounce back.

  14. 164
    Leah Says:

Ok…first of all, I meant hits not homers (no, I’m not an idiot), and last year wasn’t great. But maybe that was due to the unstable, unhealthy, unenjoyable environment. And Lowe would be gone. Maybe I’m just trade happy and super bored with the lack of news (ahem…and podcast) but it doesn’t sound terrible to me. Of course Curt will chime in and reiturate how terrible it is and add to your reasons why.

  15. 165
    Leah Says:

    AND…he’s sorry. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090923&content_id=7117400&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc

  16. 166
    Bubdylan Says:

He’s been sorry before, ya know.

Seems pretty risky. Not trying to demonize the guy. But it sounds like a headache for Bobby’s last year and a headache for whoever takes the reins in 2011.

  17. 167
    Bubdylan Says:

Listen, if Curt reiturates any comment of mine… I’ll believe in Milton Bradley’s complete rehabilitation instantly.

  18. 168
    Wiley Says:

    Scott Proctor Anyone?

  19. 169
    Leah Says:

Due to my convulsions, cold sweats, and shakes brought on by lack of podcast I was checking out the blogs posted by you guys. Steve, your blog on the service for Skip left me in tears. Hammy’s page being “intentionally blank” makes me wonder if he’s a bit of a slacker.

    Bubdylan Says:

ESPN Insider is buzzing Vazquez for Uggla. I want Uggla, but, uhh…

  21. 171
    Curt Says:

No on Milton Bradley. He’s a total jerk. The TO of baseball. Bub, you forgot when he confronted a homeplate ump on the field, slamming his helmet to the ground. I can’t stand him.

Josh.Willingham. For whatever. Medlen. Boone Logan, et al. Schafer. Whatever.

  22. 172
    Leah Says:

It’s hard to compare stats with my iPhone but aren’t his 2009 numbers worse than Bradley’s? Isn’t Javy V twice the pitcher Lowe is? Also, where would we put Meadow?

  23. 173
    Anne Says:

Agreed with Curt on no Milton Bradley. …and that’s from years ago watching the guy in spring training for…lord, was it the Indians?? (she asked…no one who was there with her…)

  24. 174
    Milton Bradley Says:

I’m'a kick all y’alls ass ‘cept Leah.

  25. 175
    Bubdylan Says:

Three reasons to be okay with the Evil Empire winning this one:

    Cole
    Pedro
    Rollins

    Punk,
    Punker,
    and Punkest.
