Ms. Leah, only a medium-big to big market team can take on the majority of Lowe’s dollars. No Padres in that, so you can uncramp.
December 16th, 2009 at 10:26 pm
Orioles will regret giving that much money to Gonzo. Boras is one talented freak.
December 16th, 2009 at 10:32 pm
Stop it Bub! The dream lives on! Santa’s coming! It’s freakin Christmas!!!!
December 16th, 2009 at 10:36 pm
Sorry, Leah. Full bore pessimist tonight. I’ll be better tomorrow.
The Angels are gonna go after Sheets and some other pitcher. The market is dry. This is crap. Lowe’s gonna end up pitching for … a team that rhymes with “Fat Santa Waves”
Boooooooooooooooooooo.

The continued saga of Lowe Is Now Bad:

lol, this I found on the MLB site, some guy called Yakuzafro:
Wren needs to go have a heart to heart with Lowe.
“Derrie, you were given lot of money to throw lot of baseball. You baseball go up up and over fence fence. We need bat, k? You not bat. Already 4 pitcher better than you in rotation, so you go fly fly over to the Angels.”
Alright, I’m done. It’s safe to play now. G’night.

It’s awfully quiet. Do you think Frank is being sly like with Wagner? Maybe something big is happening right now and we just don’t know it.
December 17th, 2009 at 11:15 am
Leah – I am susbscribing to the “it’s quiet, too quiet” opinion as well. Something big is brewing.
And, agreed on Lowe. Very immature and very off-putting. “I would have never even considered going there if I knew that ultimately this was going to happen.” C’mon, Derek. You went with the money and a team that had a shot.
December 17th, 2009 at 12:14 pm
…….and were overpaid and directly contributed to that team not making the playoffs by sucking so mericlessly down the stretch.
Beat it buddy.
December 17th, 2009 at 12:38 pm
…had we known about your general sucktitude (caused even more by attitude than numbers) we would have saved the money and trouble and started Buddy or Camp.
December 17th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
Feels good to deepen the bench a bit but I hope Mitch Jones isn’t Santa’s answer to my Christmas list.
December 17th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Mitch Jones. I have a 3-foot blow-up Santa in the tiny piece of grass my apartment manager calls a back yard, and I just kicked him in his little plastic Santa nuts.
December 17th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
Ouch!!! Dag nab it!!! No presents for you!!!
December 17th, 2009 at 10:37 pm
Man, I would like to punch Derek Lowe in his fat mouth. Do you know what a bad position he has put Atlanta in now? Teams go into talks knowing we pretty much have to get rid of him or else deal with a disgruntled veteran. We’re officially over a damn barrel now, if we weren’t before.
DAMNIT I’m mad at him. I cannot STAND when player pull this crap.
Lowe + Teheran to the Yankees for Swisher or to the Angels for Rivera. That might be the only way out of this horrible jackpot without paying gobs of Lowe’s salary.
p.s. +1 to Frank Wren for not being interested in Derek Lowe (remember?) at the beginning of last offseason. It’s too bad we got so desperate.
PLEASE let the Angels get as desperate as we were.
December 17th, 2009 at 11:19 pm
I’m afraid of the rumors of a Javy trade. Do you think there’s anything to it? Surely he won’t want to go back on his “I want to stay in God’s country” no trading clause.
December 17th, 2009 at 11:19 pm
No trading to the west coast that is.
December 17th, 2009 at 11:25 pm
…and who the hell’s Crash Davis? What’s Bobby gonna call him? You can’t get more badass than a name like Crash.
December 17th, 2009 at 11:37 pm
*facepalm*
This is Crash Davis, honey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDGQbLB-trM
December 17th, 2009 at 11:47 pm
Wow, he needs an attitude adjustment and some style.

Braves 2010 Lineup:
1. Nate McLouth CF
2. Martin Prado 2B
3. Chipper Jones 3B
4. Juan Rivera LF
5. Brian McCann C
6. Yunel Escobar SS
7. Xavier Nady 1B
8. Matt Diaz/Jason Heyward RF
9. Jair Jurrjens
If this were true, I’d imagine Schafer and Lowe get traded to LAA of A.
December 18th, 2009 at 9:11 am
That lineup looks pretty good, especially when you compare with last year’s starters. For the record, I wasn’t even allowed to wear makeup when Bull Durham was made. Curtis shouldn’t mess with the simple minded while so frazzeled by the stress of the offseason.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:07 am
Leah, you can’t listen to the show anymore until you see Bull Durham. It’s the best baseball movie ever made.
Crash Davis sets the record for most minor league homers in the movie and sees it as a dubious accomplishment at best. Thereby the correlation with he and Mitch Jones.
I don’t think the guy with the name like a shop teacher is going to be the answer to our problems.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:26 am
I go to Durham Bulls games at least 3 times a year…does that count? Banned from the podcast until a task is performed…oh my heart. Looking on hulu.com immediately!
