The number one reason why Vasquez will get destroyed in NY:

He is a flyball pitcher 1st, and a strikeout pitcher 2nd.

And in that park, Vasquez style flyballs are HRs

    Bubdylan Says:

I don’t think he’ll get destroyed. He’s never gotten destroyed, even in NY when he was relied as a higher up in the rotation.

I think he’ll be plenty servicable. I just don’t think he does much for them in terms of a championship. I don’t think he’ll be great in the post season. But he might surprise us. He’s surrounded by enough talent to calm him down, maybe.

If the Yankees are so good they are on cruise control, I think Javy will be okay. And unfortunately they’ll probably be that good. It’s a disgusting collection of hired guns.

But I can’t see him excelling in the playoffs. Javy, that is. There is no cruise control in a 5-7 game set. The old demons will return. I hate it for him, but I love it for his team.

    Hey Now Yunel Escobar?

    He’s Not Your Elephant?

    Wiley Says:

I think it means something along the lines of Happy New Year ABT, Bub.

    Bubdylan Says:

    Ahhhhh.

    Happy New Year!!!

    :) :) :)

Have I mentioned that Bub makes me laugh? ABT is one of my favorite things about 2009. Hey BD, guess where I am going tonight. I’ll give you a hint… “I wanna have friends that I can trust. Who love me for the man I’ve become not the man that I was.”

    You’re getting a sex change? Nooooooooooooooooooooo….

    Bubdylan Says:

Seriously, the Avetts? Awesome. Have a great time!

Haha. I will. I’ll drink a Corona in your honor. Not that you won’t be drinking plenty yourself.

  11. 136
    Bubdylan Says:

    Cheers. Here’s to the Braves.

    A poem:

    Two Thousand and Ten,
    We’re mailin’ it in!

    *clink*

Come on Bub…you can do better. Try again and this time your poem must include the words Heyward, win and bubbly.

  13. 138
    Bubdylan Says:

We raise up to Heyward our bubbly,
If he starts out great we might win,
    Otherwise it’s lookin’ troubly,
    Something something something Frank Wren.

I’m too drunk for this. Sorry. 8)

Good enough. Drunk already? You’ll never make it to midnight.

  15. 140
    Bubdylan Says:

Oh, I can stay drunk for a good little while. That’s… good … I guess …

    Roll Braves!

  16. 141
    Bubdylan Says:

My New Year’s resolution: leave baseball alone until pitchers & catchers report.

I mean, it sounds at least easier than quitting drinking!

See you all when… (complete that sentence for me…)

    Go Braves!!!!!

Nooooooooooooooooo! That better be a joke BubDylan! HNY ABT! Thanks to the Triad…yes even Eeyore.

    Steve Says:

Happy New Year, everyone. Sitting here stuck on a work call. Not exactly what I wanted to do at 1:51am on 1/1/10. Sigh.

I too dislike the Sunday red unis. Bottom line, it simply doesn’t look like a color that exists in baseball to me.

And, I’m not too worried about the Bay signing either. The whole large ballpark coupled with the snakebitten nature of the Mets franchise (not to mention that they still have no pitching) – I’m not too worked up about this.

Yuck Steve. That’s no fun. Glad you’re not worried about Halliday. If a NY team wins the trophy this year I’m divorcing baseball.

  20. 145
    Wiley Says:

I hope Chipper knows what he’s talking about

  21. 146
    Steve Says:

Wiley – I’m with you. And I’ve got to say, I’m believing it hook, line and sinker. As big a sucker as I am for the “coming into Spring Training in the best shape of his life,” stories, I’m even MORE susceptible to the “coming back stronger to prove everyone wrong about last year,” scenario. Which is one reason I believe that Lowe will win 26 games this coming season.

  22. 147
    Curt Says:

I believe it more with Chipper than Lowe. Add in the “Chipper wanting to send Bobby off in the right way” factor, which I’m hoping carries over to the whole team, and Chipper’s track record.

  23. 148
    I like baseball. Says:

Curt, you still believe it with Lowe to some degree right?

Bub, we will see you in October but we will hear from you Much, much, much sooner…right? Right? Bub? Crap.

  24. 149
    Steve Says:

Leah – I know you asked Curt, but I’ll chime in, too. I believe it much, much more with Chipper. My false sense of knowing Chipper the human being in some way because I’ve watched him on TV for so many years leads me to believe that he will not allow another year like the last. His sheer desire and determination will lead to a much better season. And, to a lesser degree, I believe that Lowe will be pitching with a big chip on his shoulder this coming year and will bounce back significantly. Which may lead to the same W/L total, but much better stats behind the wins and losses.

Now that football is over what will you guys do for entertainment until the baseball starts. I’m going CRAZY! Cannot wait to see the boys take the field. I need Lowe to do something to redeem himself. Not sure what I require but definitely something that invokes shame. Do you think he feels any shame for his general sucktitude?

Speaking of Javy…I have a friend who works with a guy who bought Javy Lopez’s hog and now they ride together. Cool huh.
