Curt, I wish I had half your memory.
February 8th, 2010 at 10:26 pm
Well, can’t get more rugged than that picture!
February 8th, 2010 at 10:28 pm
Steve, I didn’t catch the halftime. I know, weird. And my The Who exposure is wanting. I’ve got one cd. Forgive me.

Ok…I’m about ready to stab myself with a pitchfork. I’m assuming no new show this week due to heart day and all. I understand. So, someone come up with a topic quick or I’ll be forced to revert back to Dostoevsky, Austen and a really great rock band that no longer needs to be mentioned.

I listened to that whole cd again today. I’ve decided tracks 3, 9, and 13 are my favorites.
I have a topic. Everybody give their reaction to Sid Bream’s slide.
I was at my grandmother’s house. I jumped straight up, then bent down, fell forward, and lay on the ground face down yelling for about a minute, then rolled over and looked up at the ceiling and held two fists up towards the sky. And my grandmother scolded me for scaring her half to death.

Here’s Sid talking about it. Nice piece.

Dangit. That link doesn’t work. I was just at a Sid Bream interview on the slide and I can’t get back to it. Oh well. It’s bed time anyways.
Go Braves!
February 8th, 2010 at 11:01 pm
Okay, there’s Sid. G’night.

I’m jealous. I wish I had that kind of history with the Braves.

Great link Mr. Dylan. I want more moments like that in my memory. Is #13 Kick Drum heart? It shows up totally seperate on iTunes. My favorites are 2,7 and 8.

Steve, I never answered your Who question, either. I watched the Super Bowl commercials…uh, I mean, the Super Bowl. During the break before they started, I said, “I really don’t like The Who so much. I know they’re a classic and all, but, meh, not my favorite.” Cut to: they begin to play. I’m like, “Tommy! What a crap movie…but man, Pinball Wizard is pretty great.” Then the whole Who Are You and, basically, they drew me in. By the time they were halfway through, I took back everything and announced, “You know, I bet they put on a mean concert. I’m enjoying this.” AND I really hadn’t had a lot of bourbon by this time.

That Tex trade really is the gift that keeps on giving. According to Sporting News, the Rangers have the two best 21-year-olds in baseball, Elvis Andrus and Neftali Feliz. Hurrah.
February 9th, 2010 at 9:16 am
Sad. Were you guys happy when that trade went down or did you see him one day playing first base for the devil leaving us lamenting?
February 9th, 2010 at 9:16 am
Steve…me too. I loved the Who when I was like age 11 – 15. They were the first band where I tried to have every LP on vinyl, like Odds and Sods and Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy, Quadrophenia, Tommy, Who’s Next.

I didn’t have a reaction to Sid Bream’s slide, as i hadn’t been born yet. Yes I know I have missed the great braves runs of the 90s but I have scene the highlight dozens of times.
But my father and mother were at the game, on a date. In fact it was my mother’s first braves game. She grasped none of the immense power that moment had in the city of Atlanta. She even asked if they could leave early on account of traffic.
Oh how i wish i was older than 16, but not really.

“I didn’t have a reaction to Sid Bream’s slide, as i hadn’t been born yet.” Wiley, do you need a ride to the game in June? Are you coming just cause you think we’ll let you drink? I, the mama, claim the seat next to the kid. Seriously, had no idea you were a baby.

The Tex trade hurts. In every way. It hurts because he’s a big ol’ robotic lump of Yankee coal who cost us two studs for a year of his wait-till-i-get-warmed-up service. It hurts because on his way out the door, he kicked us with that Borastic malarkey (don’t google it, Leah, I made it up) about wanting to finish his career here. Puh-lease. And if any of you believe that I swear I’ll scoop out my spleen with a KFC spork. And it hurts because it was the trade that made the entire baseball world reconsider trading heavy value at the deadline for a run at the playoffs, making Atlanta an official cautionary tale.
What could have been in Atlanta without that trade or the Hampton contract?

Haven’t watched this video since my iPhone just isn’t THAT smart but maybe it’s good and maybe someone will enjoy it. http://twitvid.com/F5A5F – #BravesCaravan Q & A in Knoxville… Otis Nixon talks about the magic of 1991.
February 9th, 2010 at 4:28 pm
No no Leah. I think my dad’ll most likely go with me to the philly series and we’ll probably see you all there. After all, he’s an avid fan of the show. But even if we dont sit together. We’ll definitely meet up.
And yes leah I do consider you my second mother.
February 9th, 2010 at 4:45 pm
Pay no attention to Leah, Wiley. Sit next to ME. I enjoy corrupting the youth of today. Go Braves!
February 9th, 2010 at 4:48 pm
Also has anyone been to the annual career fair they hold down at Turner. I was thinking about attending it and was curious if anyone had strong opinions or any opinions for that matter.
February 9th, 2010 at 4:49 pm
Anne, did I tell you I’m 12?
February 9th, 2010 at 4:49 pm
didnt mean to ignore your comment. I hadnt reloaded the page. But yes i suppose we will have to have an auction.
February 9th, 2010 at 5:04 pm
Oh how Bubdylan makes me laugh. Wiley, I am very impressed with you young man. Very well spoken. Now, go do your homework.
February 9th, 2010 at 6:04 pm
Bub, even I have my limits, but you can sit on the other side of me.
