I notice you left Chavez off your list.
March 26th, 2010 at 6:35 pm
That’s what the “(main)” was about. I left Proctor & Kimbrel off, too. I really meant to leave off all the maybes, but I couldn’t help putting Jo Jo on there. Because… I hate myself?
March 26th, 2010 at 7:36 pm
I’m such an slacker NCAA fan. I’m tuning into the Northern Iowa game tonight, and it’ll be the first tourney game I’ve watched. In five years or more. And I’m only watching cuz they upset the #1. And because of that one guy’s sideburns. And because John Smoltz’s Michigan State boys can get beaten by the team that beat my other arch fiend’s team.
Do they have a chance? Don’t these Cinderellas usually get torn up the game after they knock somebody off?
March 26th, 2010 at 7:39 pm
His seems amazing to me. Is this amazing? http://bit.ly/aAnOnI
March 26th, 2010 at 7:49 pm
That’s what she said.
March 26th, 2010 at 7:54 pm
Wait, are the Twins opening a stadium with no roof? That can’t be right. Is there a roof?
March 26th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
Bub, I WOULD be the one to mess up your Cinderella joke. It was a funny one too. Oh well. Yeah, no roof…which was totally lost on me. I didn’t notice. I was amazed at the increase in ticket sales before opening day. Did that happen in ATL when the Ted was build? Were people packing in the old stadium before the Ted was built? Just curious. So fun to see Heyward on ESPN tonight. They were talking about some potential holes in his swing…any thoughts of concern or is everyone already calculating that into their predictions?
March 26th, 2010 at 9:25 pm
Very excited that the Heyward mystery is officially over. The FO did the right thing this time. It shows a commitment to winning on day 1 of the season, and that’s always a great message to hear as a fan.
Leah, regarding Heyward’s swing …. I have no idea. I’ve barely seen any ST games on TV (following them online). But, it’s extremely clear that he has amazing pitch recognition and plate discipline – which will take him very far in year 1 while he closes any holes in that swing.
March 26th, 2010 at 9:30 pm
BTW, our blogger just posted a new blog with a prediction for manager in ’11 that I’d not heard before but was intriguing.
March 26th, 2010 at 9:45 pm
Makes it easier to pay Mauer when you have that type of initial support. Guys on the MLB Network were taking bets as to the first snowed out game.
Leah, to answer your question, when the team moved to the Ted it was a huge deal. You can go here and see attendance numbers:
http://www.baseball-almanac.com/teams/bravatte.shtml
but, to save you the trouble, ’97, when they moved into the Ted, was the second highest attendance in their history. Gotta remember that the Braves were coming off back-to-back WS appearances so there was a frenzy. They were the best team in baseball. Plus, people were really excited about seeing how the Olympic stadium was going to look as the Ted.
March 26th, 2010 at 9:56 pm
1996. Speaking of recent history, and given the inevitable rain delay, which would you like to see?
“Dinner and a Movie”?
“Junkin’ with Val and Dave”?
“In My Own Words”?
I’ll take Annabelle….please!
March 26th, 2010 at 10:13 pm
Uh, I think Curt is right with ’97. I wasn’t there.
March 26th, 2010 at 10:36 pm
I have a big crush on Val from Val & Dave.
Torre for manager.
Or ABP. Anybody but Pendlton.
March 26th, 2010 at 10:37 pm
NIU/ Mich St. game lookin’ to come down to the end.
March 26th, 2010 at 10:39 pm
Or not.
March 26th, 2010 at 10:48 pm
BTW, Leah, there wasn’t a Cinderella joke. Haven’t quite gotten around to setting up my own TWSS punchlines.
I was responding to your “His seems amazing to me.”
March 26th, 2010 at 11:10 pm
OHHHH…I get it. Then, you’re welcome.
March 26th, 2010 at 11:20 pm
Dats my boy!
March 26th, 2010 at 11:23 pm
Hammy – you soo funny!
I laughed out loud.
when is this Tigers game gonna be on mlb.com…
I’m forced to watch some back issues of the Daily Show..
March 26th, 2010 at 11:39 pm
I spoke with Annabelle Gurwitch on the phone a couple of times. She’s a little crazy. Hot and crazy. The way I like my coffee.
I was actually hoping Bobby would retire a couple of years ago (really? we had no idea), but to coincide with Torre leaving NY, allowing for the perfect segway for him to return to the Braves. stupid Ted Turner.
March 26th, 2010 at 11:42 pm
Bub, by the way, the NIU guy with the mutton chops is awesome.
March 26th, 2010 at 11:44 pm
We’re officially making the big dogs a little anxious.

I freakin LOVE that!!! Is our bullpen that shaky? I know Chavez and Acosta are clearly not ideal but with only two spots open surely we can find an upgrade from Jo Jo No Go.
March 27th, 2010 at 1:15 am
Did you all know:
2nd halves of last year for Medlen and Moylan:
Meds: ERA 2.80, WHIP 1.21
Moylan: ERA 1.00 WHIP 1.16
If you add that to their ST performances, middle relief looks promising. Plus Proctor at some point. Oh, guys, we’re gonna be badasses in pitching.
March 27th, 2010 at 1:17 am
We’re going to allow the fewest runs in all of baseball. Mark it down.
