The Game? Oh yeah there was a game last night.

Check out www.braveslaunchingpad.com

Perhaps the actual ballgame was overshadowed by the big news of the evening but if you tuned in (as I did) you didn’t miss much. But what you did miss was more of the same.

Jorge Campillo pitched another great game. Giving up only 2 ER of which one was a deep to center Cadbury Creme Egg c/o of Albert Pujols. Jorge pitched seven rather good innings. Recording 5 K’s and giving up a lone walk, Campillo kept us in it.

That is, until the ninth inning came along. Then, thanks to a Corky Miller’s throwing error, the door flung open and the rest is history…along with the Braves season. Make that four in a row.

Some quick numbers for you on this one:

Frenchy knocked in his 46 RBI, but is still hanging around the dismal .230 mark. KJ got a double and Norton and Blanco both brought in runs but that’s your offense for the night. Chipper and McCann are still MIA and with Tex now gone, what can you expect offensively? I’m just going to watch Kotchman, Jurrjens, and Campillo with excitement until this thing is over.

There’s another baseball game on tonight and there may be more moves made before Friday morning’s deadline. Ohman is most likely on the move but I’ll be keeping an ear out and updates over at the Launching Pad

Thanks, Braves fans and keep choppin’ (even when it’s ugly out there).

The Corky Miller thing has crossed over annoying and is now firmly entrenched in maddening and bizarre. If you buy that we haven’t brought up Sammons this year b/c the Braves want him to get regular at bats – fine. But how do you explain that he’s only started one of the three Cards games. It makes no sense.

Well Sammons did catch on Monday after McCann’s injury but Corky Miller is Todd Pratt… only much much worse.

At least he makes Frenchy look good.

I don’t understand why Corky is still here. I know he’s a great defensive catcher with a decent arm but come on. You can throw a rock at a high school and find a better hitter then him. I bet half our pitchers have a better average then him.

He’s there to make Frenchy feel better.

JB – I love that theory! I think the Braves also plan to bring back Raul Mondesi in mid-August to give Frenchy another confidence boost as the “best hitting Right fielder” on the team.

    And now…

All Corky Miller discussions can come to and end.

He’s not pinin’. He’s passed on. This Brave is no more. He has ceased to be a Brave. He’s off to meet his maker. He’s expired and breft of life. This is an EX-BRAVE.

I wonder what finally broke through… do you have to actually fall below .100 to get DFA’d?

Apparently the Braves have to be out of contention for Bobby to start designating the right folks. Let’s not forget that Royce Ring was designated this week too, but was good enough to come into that Saturday Phillies game where the entire freaking season hung in the balance. My Mom knew that Ring shouldn’t come in then. I’ve gotten really bitter this week …

But what might have happened in the event that
you prepared your coupons adequate so that you recognized
when they were going to go bad.
