I just got to say it right away. How about Kelly Johnson? He’s hitting like we’re in the midst of a play off push with his absolutely outstanding September. Dude is hitting .486, 2 HR, 6 2B’s, 12 RBI, .525 OBP, .919 SLG and only struck out twice! Dang!
Homers and other good things
Chipper and Kelly went yard back to back to give the Braves the lead and held on. Brandon Jones came up with a big two out RBI after the back to back’s to give the Braves 7 runs. McCann, Kotchman, and Anderson (2RBI’s and made an AWESOME catch that made SportsCenter’s #2) gave some run support with RBI’s as well.
Frenchy had a two out hit with men on base but stranded 6 before it was over. McCann and Chipper both had big three hit nights.
Is James Parr for real? Two starts both for six innings, no runs. This time no walks either and 5 K’s! Impressive, young padawan.
Boyer (oh God!) gave up three runs in relief to waste a win for Parr. Ohman got his 19th hold but then a blown save for Bennet, a Julio and Taveras later, Braves manage a win that was really more interesting than it should’ve been.
Chipper pulls ahead with a three dog night placing him at .363, just one point above Pujols! 16 games left to play.
Two words. Kelly Johnson. If I had a game ball of the month he’d get it. Again, I ask, why did you sit him in the opener against the Rox, Bobby? I guess you have your reasons. Ours is not to question why, ours it but to do and die… but why?
Jurrjens gets the ball at 7pm to get the sweep over the Rockies before we go back to Shea for one last time, ever.
Keep Choppin’ and go get your $1 hot dogs and show some love for the Boys.
